With Barack Obama’s victory earlier this week, the famous lyrics of 2pac Shakur, “And though it seems heaven-sent / We ain’t ready to have a black President,” ring false for the first time ever. Though Obama has not won anything just yet, his place in this November’s election is both monumental and historic. Similar to Obama, veteran emcee Nas has preached change, both in the form of hip hop and in which people perceive usage of the word “n*gger.” Though his forthcoming summer release will no longer hold the controversial title, Esco has hooked up with DJ Green Lantern to release a pre-album mixtape, entitled The N*gger Tape. The first joint to leak off the album (Yo, Lowkey) is the Lantern-produced, Black President.
Note: The streaming of “Black President” has temporarily been suspended.
This production is real slick! I like the Pac Sample and the whole concept. NAS GETS OFF! I gotta grab this nigga's tape...LOL (Pun intended). This is way better than anything I've heard that was new from Nas lately. This gives me a new found hope for new Nas material! Word!
Love Tupac and Obama in here. The message is a great one that a lot of people need to hear. There are few better than Nas at making meaningful hip-hop that also sounds damn good. Nas and Tupac's style contrast really well in this song. I dub this one an official banger.
OBAMA!!!! THANK GOD! This song is incredible. Pac on the hook, Nas at his best. The beat is strong as ever. Classic NAS. This is not a mixtape song, this should be on a album.
Nas got a mind scope like no other. From if I ruled the world track to You could hate me now. Just tac this whole CD to the Nas's Greatest. I mean hit after hit coming out this CD. Can't wait till it drops. I'll probally have it from Dowloading but I'll still go and Buy a CD to support my nig.
I hate when an amazing rapper like Nas (who’s on his lyrical rank?) doesn’t get a production on his level! And I love when he does: production is great! I’m feelin the bass, piano (reminds me of “Hip Hop saved my life”) and the percussion variations! His flow was more dynamic than usual and on point with the tempo!
Esco da god. I could never give Mr. jones below a Banger because his lyrics are so insane. I give this song a Banger, because of the lyrics and message. This is Bangin.
ummmmmm i dont want yall 2 get on me cuz i dont real-e like it. Hiz flow iz good and i like hiz voice but i dont like DIS beat- and i do like SOME beatz like DIS but not DIS one sooo...
If this is a mixtape song then his album is going to be the shit cus this should be on the album .NAS keeps it real like he always does and makes this a classic political song.
This song has great lyrics, samples, and topic but the beat is boring and doesn't match the level of lyrics, samples, and topic. Like Fredrico said, I HATE when this happens and damn it...here we go again!! I'm giving it three stars for its three strong points.
evryone is talkin bout the carter 3 and wayne but u need to be focus on NAS, i feel his is lyrically at the height of his career, this is different but fresh, i will 4 sho pick up Nas new album
5/5 Nas is the best rapper alive! Str8 up (Wayne fell off and Lupe's up there) ... IMO (Im not black ... he spits the truth, his songs have meaning, and this is an inspiritional song black white yellow or brown it doesnt matter ... this guy should be up there with biggie and pac
uhm... beat could have been improved... but at least no pretty bitches & big cars talking here. hey da truth... nas is way better than weezy... at least he doesn't sing like t pain to sell ringtones...
xxxxDA TRUTHxxx must be on the Lil Wayne street team or leader of the fan club.
Who can touch Nasir Jones lyrically??? The dude is socially conscience, street credible, lyrical genius, etc.....
"KKK is like WTF, loading their guns up" DAMN!!!!!
Excellent song.
Funny thing is, the basic beat sounds very much like Lupe Fiasco's - "Little Weapon", and the little piano melody sounds almost the same as "Hip-Hop Saved My Life". 2 of my fav songs of that particular Lupe album.
Hope Nas can keep this level of quality up for the whole Album!
I agree with boss dogg, don't sleep on Nas's new album. It might be better lyrically and make more sales than Carter III. Will Nas have the best rap album of the year?
I've played this track back like 5 times. Catch something new every time.
"Instead of praying for dude we have to, you ain't wright Jeremiah wrong pastor in love with a slave master....." damn!!!
classic shit!
This is classic Nas right here. Legendary.
oh and MuzzieBoi, i just listened to Hero, fuckin amazing. only downside is two new nas songs, i dont know which to listen to haha
I didn't especially like Nas' first 2 showings, they were good but the production wasn't my style so it took away from the lyricism... But DJ Green Lantern's beat is on point, the samples are very well laid out, and Nas is just sick. I'll play this alot more, classic! and its a mixtape cut damn...
we still ain't ready but i guess it's better than a woman president... this is going to be the worst thing ever if all black people just vote for him because he is black without actually knowing the issues... song's garbage btw
Classic. Is that John Legend on the, "Yes we can, change the world."? (I'm not a big JL fan so it may be one of his old songs???) This should definately make the album, why put it on a mixtape?
Nas is better then any nig on the block better than Jay Z and it is a shame for 50 to go on him.I hope 50 learns from this.Bitch Nigger,5mics to Nas and beyond he goes
I meant Monday, not tomorrow, haha. >_< Also, it should shut up some people who complained about Nas not getting beats (though when it comes to guys like him, it should hardly matter).
Cool Z.
Nas is buzzing all over the net. Tracks are being leaked left and right. I just hope it slows down or stops soon.
I've heard the Dj Khalil, Cool and Dre, and Mark Ronson prod. tracks and all of them were fiya!
Ok. I am not a Nas fan. Never really have been. But this is sick. His rapping is amazing on this one. And having Tupac on the hook is always good. This is a masterpiece.
I prefer to stcik them together collectively as there to different styles of rapper Weezy from Miami got the Southern style nas from New york. And yes both albums just about showing artists at the hieghts (Carter 3 is a banger, Untitled showing signs of a classic need to listen to more) . Find it hard to compare and diss to completely hot artists at mo.
