Nas - Be A N*gger Too
Producer: Salaam Remi and Big Jack
Album: N*gger
Label: Ill Will/Def Jam
Racism exists in America and Nas knows it. For that reason, among several others that the iconic rapper has mentioned in various interviews, he will title his new album N*gger. After listing the various hate crimes that have been performed to his fellow “n*ggers,” the Queensbridge born MC rhetorically and sarcastically asks, “Wouldn’t you like to be a n*gger too?” On this, the first single to be released off the aforementioned new album, Nas controversially drops racist slurs heard by Jews, Italians, Hispanics and Asians in this play on the famous Dr. Pepper “Wouldn’t You Like To Be A Pepper Too” advertising campaign. Nas’ label, Def Jam, has not set a release date for N*gger.

My man Nas is lyrically inclined. Nasty Nas always spits THE TRUTH. This is what HIP-HOP is about: a message! Of course racism still exists. The only difference between now and the 1950's and 1960's is that racism is covert and institutionalized. MuzzieBoi is right: Pac, Big & Nas are the rap kings.

Anyone who is offended by this song isn't listening to the meanings, they are just ripping the words he spits out of context. It should be about 2 days before FOX NEWS gets ahold of this song and plasters the damn lyrics up on a 'Special Report.' This is hip-hop; freedom of speech. More importantly, it is thought out, creative and intelligent.

First let me say this man is a genius. Amazing lyricism. But those of you that feel you gotta put wayne down to prove Nas' greatness I suggest you look a couple months back on DJ Booth's Hip Hop Single at "Ghetto Rich" where Wayne actually steals the show from Nas on a song "with a real message". I don't mean to start a pointless argument between Weezy and Nas fans, I just want to point out that HIP HOP NEEDS BOTH THESE DUDES! great song

HAHA. Those guys aren't any better then Bill O'Reilly. They just need to shut up and LISTEN. Fox News is ALREADY one of the MOST HATED news broadcasters around, so most people know not to listen, but they do need to get hit down eventually. They're simply ignorant and won't listen to the facts. Hundreds of said it already; if one person can change things, it's Nas. Everyone needs to take a chill pill, cop the album when it comes, clear their damn minds and LISTEN to him. By listen, I mean to actually listen with your heart and mind, not with your feelings towards the subject or Nas himself. I mean look at that vid Tone posted- they just took all the bad things Nas has done, and completely ignored everything else.

I don't care if this song has "meaning" behind it or not. Nas is doing a disservice to all races by forcing negativity out instead of trying to move above and beyond it. Having it plastered on FOX NEWS is just what he wants, but it's everyone else who's going to have to deal w/the repercussions. Nas is not someone who can "change things." He's just a rapper. People who don't listen to and like rap music already don't respect him for rapping about drugs, killin people, etc. This is just more "evidence" for them to say "yea they all nothin but a bunch of stupid, ignorant n*ggers." THANX NAS btw i'll still be gettin the album hurry up already

this is a pretty good track, but not a banger. It's got a cool message and nice lyrics and flow but its not that good. I've heard better from Nas. stop riding the name he's getting more stars than Weezy just for the name. It's not an entertaining song. And it's possible to combine meaningful lyrics with entertainment, so for that only 3*.

Weather we agree or not at least he’s talkin' about something, his message can’t be any worse then what many rappers deliver nowadays. I’m sure Nas is going to catch heat from an album titled “nigger”. People should give the album a chance before judging it 1st. To be honest, I really don't like the N-word period. It’s not really a good word regardless how it’s flipped around. But I’m kind of curious about the album myself. ;)

"The title "@*#$!" came under fire from Reverend Jesse Jackson and the NAACP, and was also dismissed as "shock value" by 50 Cent. Front Greene assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries requested New York’s Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli to withdraw $84 million from the state pension fund that has been invested into Universal and its parent company, Vivendi. Universal has not made a response." Hah.. 50 talking trash about Nas? Wow. 50 Cent is a peon in the hip-hop game compared to Nas. |

Ok to the person said that we need lil wayne is so wrong. There are and were many artist way better than him ex: Ice Cube, Tupac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg, Krs-one, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Rakim, Kanye, Immortal Technique, Bizzy Bone, Bone thugs n Harmony(the whole group), Outkast(both), Wu Tang Clan( all of them), Jay-z, The old 50 Cent, Blu & Exile, and many more. Has Lil Wayne ever had a classic like any of these artist no. I know you don't want an argument, but Lil Wayne will never be as good as all you say.

Actually, let's go back to "Ghetto Rich", MusicMan. Though Wayne pushes what he's saying harder on the listener, comparing what he said to what Nas said, Lil Wayne looked like a flat out idiot. There wasn't much of a meaning in that. He said some random things and talked about no snitches, etc, etc. Nas on the other hand, didn't. He kept it on topic and nailed the song right on the dot.

I'm worried! Nas is always brilliant so he is not the problem! The message is RACEy as hell! I don't know what America will think of my dog after this one. Shows alota nuts! Either way Nas is one of my all time favorite MC hands down!I would like to see some one take his verse and do it justice with a better beat! Other than that all I can say is I'm ready for @*#$!!

Yo for all my hip hop heads have you ever gave a pass but in the back of your mind you were saying naw gotta check him but that white boy or chink is my nigga.that's what nas did spark up conversation on obvious truth.we use the word but break it down but, realize the struggle is the big picture compared to the word ,in the real world.the black struggle is a harsh reality big up nas.

Lol, there is a radio version with the swearing edited. The annoying thing about Nas takes ages to drop an album this one been in producton for years mnd that given the fact there normally classics like illmatic, stillmatic and it was written. Plusyeah nas brought real message here but some one had to and why not some one well known and respected like him.

LOL Z Nas has an answer back song to FOX called Sly Fox which he should have dropped after "TO be a N*gger to* or Slave and Master just to see what reactions should be. Hero is going to be the one that gets airplay though as radio stations arent going to play the N word songs and Sly Fox takes shots at the media.

F U BIZZ, u wanna talk and listen to the lyrics, well lets get it straight, NAS has a way of boring people with his voice, he isnt as fast as we would like as well, so i say this, if u gave this lyrics to lil wayne and let him spit him, i garentee u that, it would be more exciting to listen to, and he would have put a way tighter beat to it, u said NBDY wanted to argue against u well i am, nas spiting was tight and what he put down was sick, but he can't kill it like lil wayne and that is the TRUTH.. iight
