With the upcoming presidential election in November, more and more hip-hop artists are starting to get political with their music. Adding their two cents (or would it be ten?) is Kentucky’s premier rap group, the Nappy Roots. Assisted by singer Sabrina‘s soulful background vocals and Geenome & Haywire‘s epic, pounding beat, the Roots are looking forward to Election Day. Although the Bluegrass State quintet is quick to point out their major issues with government, from the Patriot Act and racial inequalities to the ban on public school prayer, they do not endorse any particular candidate. In the end, the message is loud and clear: choose wisely.
I am crowning this as the "song of the night." This song has a central america latin vibe. This doesn't sound like a beat that you would use to promote your political views. This is a grab the first woman next to you to the dance floor and spin her like a dradle. Additionally, the hook sounds out of place. Besides those minor discrepancies this is a 3.5. I like the scratching on this track.
nappy roots coming into the future... I dont like this song as much as old nappy roots songs... It had that southern style music. What style is this vegas/trumpetts?
like the first girl said good message...
Music with a message... I love it. I agree that the delivery was all over the place, but I am just plain happy to hear the Nappy crew back in the biz. Keep it up fellas.
Patty, all you talk about is "the beat" ... there's more to music than just the beat...geez.
Glad to hear from these dudes!! Still wanna hear what else they have though...
SweetKissez, I don't think I talk only about the beat...I often write about the music and the vocal skills...please before writing silly things just read my comments better! Ps: it's not a secret that I'm interested more to the beat than to the lyrics, as I don't understand them...I'm even tired of saying that ;)
