While many hip-hoppers have to guard themselves at all times against the corrupting effects of fame and fortune, the Nappy Roots seem to have humility and gratitude flowing through their veins; whether it’s due to the Kentucky crew’s Southern upbringing, their religious faith or simply the accumulated wisdom of years, every record they put out attests to their uncanny ability to keep the game in perspective. No exception to this rule, the lead single off the Roots’ fifth LP finds Skinny Deville, B. Stille, Ron Clutch, Big V. and Fish Scales offering their Congratulations to fans for sticking with them through good times and bad. Over Organized Noize‘s wistful, string-laced instrumental, the group look back on their rise from poverty and struggle to national acclaim, even giving thanks for the tough periods that made their successes sweeter: “To everyone I know who ever came to a show, I kinda liked bein’ poor, ‘cause that’s how I met you.” Like what you’re hearing? "Congratulations" strives to be an anthemic banger, but I believe it falls just short of that mark. Still, though, its always good to hear from the Nappy Roots - especially over some Organized Noize.

OMG!!! Finally a summer anthem that I can relate to. These guys always find a way to look at the cup half full. When everybody goes right these guys stay true to themselves. The humbleness is unprecedented especially nowadays in this Swagger Rap generation. Thumbs up to NR for keeping it real or "Nappy" as they put it. Congratulations fellas!!!

I like the low-fi hip hop sound of this record. This is what hip-hop is suppose to sound like new direction is interesting and pulled off very well!!! Organized Noize production with Nappy Roots is a pretty damn good combination.

Outstanding! I can't wait to share this track with all my friends. Nappy Roots' lyrics inspire me to give more of myself to my community and appreciate the simple things in life. I just heard this song the other day and it blew me away... "Congratulations!!!" Nappy on another classic record. I cant wait til the album drops. Organized Noize and Nappy Roots what more can i say but Effin Awesome!!!!
