It goes without saying that 2007 was an excellent year for Musiq Soulchild. In case you aren’t up to speed, here’s a recap: After being traded from Def Jam to Atlantic (in exchange for Fabolous), the Philly R&B singer returned to his early-‘00s peak with his fourth album Luvanmusiq (#1 on the Billboard 200, plus B.U.D.D.Y. and Teachme both received major airplay). Ready to continue his roll, Musiq will kick off the soundtrack to Tyler Perry’s newest movie, Meet the Browns, with People Everyday. Sampling the Sly and the Family Stone classic, Everyday People, Musiq, along with UK singer/rapper Estelle, teach the audience that people should be judged based on first impressions. The Meet the Browns soundtrack will be released on March 18.
I like it, whenever Musiq Soulchild is mentioned, I instantly think of a ultra soulful song. This is a lot more upbeat and using everyday people always puts a smile to my face. I don't think he did enough on the track to make it his own and give it his own vibe. Also, I thought estelle would have done something better on the track as well.
Word! This is my type of music. Arrested Development used that same exact sample for their song also titled "People Everyday." Musiq Soulchild doesn't over sing his vocals, he takes it easy and let's the terrific melody stand for itself. I a huge Tyler Perry fan and he always has the BEST soundtracks for his films. Estelle is a nice addition, but she could have done a bit more. Let's take 'em to church!
This is madd chill....Konvict musics own kardinal offishall who is from my very owne T.O had his own track on a similar vibe. check it out at... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1B4MmrTfiA
I don't understand how someone can steal a song and chorus beat for beat and chorus for chorus. The EXACT SAME THING. I think he changed the words, but he even flows EXACTLY the same. Not much credit given from me here...Sorry, but If I didn't know, I would have thought this was the track from 15 years ago! Not a good look IMO.
I will not be going to see this film, but this soundtrack is HOT. If you like quality R&B, without having to flip through songs or deal with annoying rap features shorter than Nate Robinson, pick up a copy-- trust me.
So excited to hear this sample...but disappointed to hear him fail to make it his own. I got down to the song and will FoReVeR! This is a classic joint! But he did nothing with it, and Estelle coulda done more as well. [[so I agree]] But I'm givin a five for the Arrested Developement sample...
