As you begin to hear those familiar piano chords, you might assume that Philly native Musiq Soulchild decided to remix his old single Teach Me. On his newest single, If You Leave, the neo-soul veteran vents his frustrations with the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige. Over a wonderfully simple, yet effective melody brought to you by Carvin & Ivan (of Karmui Productions), Musiq opens up to his woman, letting her know that even without her, he’ll still be around, because love is forever. Soulfully strong still, Blige gives a fiery performance, proclaiming Musiq “arrogant” and “full of it” as she asks for her partner to give it a try. A beautiful song with huge single potential, this musical matrimony could last a lifetime.
This is Real Musiq!! I've always been a fan of Musiq and he never disappoints. He can't go wrong with having the queen of RNB - MJB, on the track. I'd give it a 4/5, great vocals, but maybe chorus or pre-chorus could have been better.
When Musiq dropped his previous single, people thought the sound wasn't his. This IS Musiq! And Mary? You can't go wrong there. This will eat up URBAN-AC. Get used to hearing this for the next 4 months.
This is smoooooooth right here! Musiq might be taking a little bit of the limelight from Ne-Yo here in the next couple months, because this is a banger. His Radio joint got mixed reviews, although I loved it. This is just his normal formula, smooth R&B cut. It would have been a banger without MJB but you throw her in there and you are left with no doubt that this will be a hit. Great work.
This is more like how Musiq should sing. I liked his Radio song because everyonce in a while its good to change the formuala but this song is back to the original Musiq. What else can i say..its hella smooth chill r&b music! Classic!!
I was already loving the production in the first three seconds of the track. This definitely is music. I liked the new direction he was going in on his previous single, but it's always great to hear the classic sound return as well. MJB is very strong vocally on this and matches perfectly. This song puts me on the verge of chills. It's definitely a classic, off the top. The mix, production and engineering is absolutely superb. Enough said! Two of the best of the best in R&B right here on one track.
I know my man got shades on but damn Music, you look like you on Zombie mode in this pic. Get some sleep dog! This song is on fire. Both of them completly blessed us with a classic ballad. I been feelin the slow songs lately since rap has been so sorry lately.
I'm also a big fan of Musiq, the man brings just that.. Real music...I agree that it does sound like the remix of "TEach me" but i loved that song and therefore i'm diggin this song...Him and Mary sound great together
Musiq has been my man since high school still bump all of his albums. With my girl Mary J good callab. Like my user name music is my therapy hot track.
I agree with Michaelhannah, this is music, not the T-Pain and Luda @*#$!! The production is high and the duet of Musiq and Mary J is perfect...anyway the overall song doesn't catch me! I mean, I love soulful songs (for example If You're Out There) but not the ones like this...after a while I get really bored! It's a beautiful song but not my type, if I need to chill I choose the song I mentioned before
damn.. hip hop may have gone to @*#$!, but everytime i hear something from musiq.. i know soul/r&b isnt going anywere as long as he's around.. new favortie right there...
This song is amazing...now this is what I call R&B! I thought Musiq was goin in the wrong direction with "Radio", but he has redeemed himself with this track. FLAWLESS!!
I knew within the first 10 seconds of the song that i was feelin dis song.. and If ne body can relate to the meaning of this song its me @ dis point.. but i've neva known musiq to put out a garbage tracc so ya ima deff. throw dis one in Rotation.. mayb on the next mixtape
