With the eclectic weather we’ve been having down South (Mother Nature can’t make up her damn mind), I’m grabbing on to consistency whenever I see it. While west coast emcee MURS is indeed reliable, his rhyme powers are strong enough to brew a strong hip-hop storm. Ample evidence of his creative energies can be heard on The Problem Is, the new single off his forthcoming collaboration album with 9th Wonder. On this track, MURS (along with fellow left-coasters Sick Jacken and Uncle Chucc) bounces along emphatically over a west coast-style beat from 9th that perfectly contrasts with the heavy nature of the track, as each artist remarks on the troubles facing the world today: “The problem is we’re all out for self / in a world that’s consumed by greed and wealth.”  Booth-heads who found themselves enjoying this cut should be sure to check the dope musical typhoon 9th and MURS are preparing to unleash when their new album Fornever drops March 30.

I wonder how many members are going to mention that Uncle Chucc sounds a lot like John Legend. Just wait for it...

MURS and 9th sound great together. Period. The guest features work well, nothing sounds forced, and this (for me) has repeat appeal.

Can't wait for the album! I liked MURS a lot more before he signed with Warner Bros. But this right here is CLASSIC MURS and 9th Wonder.

9th is one of my favorite producers right now along with Statik. And DJ Premier is #1 on my list of all time.

I'll take Murs and 9th any day. before you press play you know it's gonna be quality, and this track's nothing different. Well done gentlemen.

And great call by @reglagyrl05, that hook does sound oddly like John Legend.

Nuthin' like a lil conscious hip hop for the mind .. I dig this track just like I dig most of Murs' work. He's been one of my fave MC's from the underground for quite some time, and its work like this that keeps me headbangin'
