MURS - It's No Surprise
Artist: MURS
Featuring: Terrace Martin
Producer: Terrace Martin
Album: Melrose
Label: It's A Wonderful World Music Group/Traffic/KGMG
As far as I’m aware, there are no recorded instances of a rapper stealing a dude’s girlfriend through the medium of online music. But, guys, if you flip on MURS and Terrace Martin‘s latest feature, and 15 minutes later your significant other rushes out the door to catch a last-minute flight to L.A., well, don’t say I didn’t warn you. It’s No Surprise, the B-side to recently-released single Fresh Kicks, finds the West Coast natives ready to get freaky with women of all shapes, sizes, races, nationalities and (legal) ages – and if they already have a man, well, they won’t for long. With Martin’s club-ready synths and syncopated percussion bumping in the background, the collaborators proposition every breed of female they can think of, pausing only to talk up their own sexual prowess and general freshness: “I’m hot to death, I’m on fire / Just too fly, just that type of guy.” If this freaky cut leaves you itching to party with the emcee-producer duo, more fresh tunes await on Terrace Martin and MURS’ Melrose LP, set to hit stores next Tuesday, February 8.

Very exciting kind of sound for Murs and TM, I really like the direction of this record. Full of energy and definitely one for the clubs. A fun, catchy, and hilarious track that can't help but to put any listener in a good mood.

Good to hear Murs taking such a lighthearted approach on this project. He does dark as well as anyone, but tracks like this also are something to just let go and get the hell down to.

anyone who says murs doesn't @*#$! around is a fool and has never even listened to his previous records. This is his style, just sped up. I dig, but I like his slower stuff better. More his style, less commercial.

I was expecting to jam the hell out to this one. I like the sounds of the write-up, and Terrace is one of my favorite producers doing it right now (word to Thirsty for being on repeat), but this beat does minimal damage compared to virtually everything he's touched lately. Meh. Still super excited to hear the project though.

nice for a club banger, different from all the other club stuff out, almost humorous. I like it, but i like MURS more on slow stuff
