Want to Ride with the Mudkids? On their first Booth feature, the Indiana-based emcee-producer duo fill us in on exactly what it takes to join their elite crew. In addition to loyalty, trust and respect for car upholstery, you’ll want to have a healthy appreciation for left-of-center sounds – beatsmith Elp-Mass’ boardwork, a sampled mix of xylophone, piano, and banjo, is about as off-kilter as it gets (in a good way… I think). Rapper Rusty Redenbacher matches his partner’s shambolically catchy boardwork on the lyrical tip, delivering larger-than-life braggadocio with a side of unpredictable pop culture allusions: “You don’t get props til’ your team gets props, that’s all your folks/ that’s why me and Tyler ride like Hall and Oates” If this ramshackle head-nodder’s convinced you to hop on the Mudkids’ bandwagon, you’ll be happy to hear that there are plenty of hot new tunes where this came from. Released in late September, the twosome’s MKEP and its instrumental version are available for purchase from Amazon and iTunes.

Always refreshing to have one song an evening in our new music features line-up that sounds NOTHING like anything else. "Ride" is that song and the two gentlemen behind it, the Mudkids, are on our radar for good.

That hook isn't my favorite, but Mudkids had me flowing on the verses. Hot flow! Heavily J5 influenced, but this was fresh and original!

I was ready for anything when I opened this one up, but I couldn't have possibly seen this one coming. I always support real innovation, and more importantly, this sounds fresh as hell. Dopeness.

Oh man, this is dope. Completely out of left field and all over the place but it somehow all came together. I like their style.
