Though he’s already a popular act in his hometown, it wasn’t until London’s Mr. Hudson contributed background vocals (Paranoid) and co-production (Street Lights) to Kanye West‘s 808s & Heartbreak that he got an opportunity to cross over worldwide. Now signed to G.O.O.D. Music, Mr. Hudson is about to introduce his sound to listeners everywhere with studio album Straight No Chaser. On his debut worldwide single, Hudson shows that he knows how to woo a fine lass; she may want a shining star, but he’s offering to be so much brighter than that—in other words, a Supernova. In addition to delivering an Autotuned second verse and backing vocals, Kanye West backs Hudson with a synth-heavy instrumental. Featuring star performances from both collaborators, Supernova has the potential to become one of the year’s biggest hits. Straight No Chaser will arrive on August 3rd in the UK, and in North American markets the next day—bottoms up, Booth-heads!

i actually like this all around.
it really has this weird different sound to it. and mr. hudson has that 80s techno-pop sound to him with that autotune. but this song is a "different kind of" banger. |

I heard this yesterday. It was a real solid, alternative joint. Mr. Hudson sounds way better than he did on Kanye's album. Kanye kept this joint interesting. I expect to hear stuff like this on a new Kanye album comibined with rapping too. It's something refreshing and new to the mainstream of music...with a UK appeal.
I can dig it. Hoping to hear more soon. |

This is a solid song..Mr. Hudson's voice sounds real good on here and I like the techno song. Kanye West's verse is pretty good and the hook is catchy. 3 stars on the first listen but banger because I know this will be getting mad plays. 4 stars!

Mr. Hudson is Chris Martin of Coldplay with a little less range on his pipes. With Kanye by his side (and behind his project), he is destined to see success. I like his chances... esp w/ this as the lead single.

YEAH! this what i need, last few days on booth got me thinkin too serious with all those soulful,mellow productions ...
I love this, it's nice, refreshing, upbeat, and different (in a good way)... As a producer, Kanye is one of the greats ... and his use of the vocoder on the song was executed greatly... The energy never hits a low note, even when the song enters a break in the melody ... In-btw this reminds me of Cher's "Believe" a little bit ... someone else feels the same way too?? FULL STARS. |

Hudson will get his cake with the help of Kanye. I'm straight up loving this joint, like MH said it has a strong UK appeal and it can hit many different genres.The distinct sound and stardom behind it will push this one to the top.

I normally don't like this style, but I was feelin this track. The production and melody sounded pretty nice. I could see this getting big, although I can also see why it may not quite catchy on.

If I hadn't heard 808's (which would be a mistake) I probably wouldn't like this very much, because I was really close minded on Kanye when that album dropped, and I wasnt feeling it at all, but then I gave up trying to make it something its not and appreciate it for what it is, and this track has that really eery vibe to it, and Mr. Hudson brings that UK sound, and a genre-crossing appeal to the song, while Ye brings in the rest of the community, very solid effort

It's definitely different in a way but that isn't a bad thing....so yeah, it's okay. His voice is okay and so is the beat. Kanye was the highlight for me- he did really good.
O yeah haha, Did any of you guys watch American Idol and see Kris perform Kanye's "Heartless"??....haha...I totally liked Kris' version better LOL!... |

@WOW - Heartless was the only part I watched and it was pretty good.
I like this track simply bcuz the lyrics are a bit better than most tunes that are comprised entirely of auto-tune. Its got a good beat and should have some marketable success. |

@WOW - Fam, it was truly amazing. I too liked it better than Kanye's. Seein a man and his guitar make an impact like that is what makes me listen to music.
And yeah, this song screams Coldplay. Not a bad thing AT ALL, because they are one of the best bands in all of music right now. This song is amazing. Not really your run-of-the-mill hip-hop joint. But still hot. And Kanye is a very nice addition. Just shouts "Hey, by the way, I'm a song, and I'm amazing!!!" Lol. Nice job on here. Classic. |

Mr. Hudson's vocals were great! Why do you say autotune that1kid13? Wasn't it his natural voice Burmy? Anyway, he does remind Chris Martin but keeps it his own, maybe because his sound comes to me as a mix of Chris Martin and SEAL (singin/melody, not voice!). I knew Kanye could do better with the autotune (based on his GREAT singing on "Hey Mama" Grammy remix, SANS autotune: http://www.djbooth.net/index/tracks/radio/kanye-west-hey-mama-grammy-mix/), it's just that 808's was (intentionally) full of distortion.

I'm wrestling with this one, at first glance i thought Mr. Hudson was gonna out do Kanye but after listening to this for the third time, Kanye def. Brought his game to this track. The 1st half the song really is subpar, but its the second half that really impresses me. I dont know whether to push this up to a 3 star, i'm gonna give it a few more listewns tonight, but i'm a little split on this.
