Yo, is it me, or does this sound exactly like the Shop Boyz “Rockstar?” Montana, with a cameo by DJ Unk gives us Rock On, produced by Montana, and Mike & Pitt off the Savior Fair Entertainment and Koch Records. Equal parts Hood Rock, Knock Off, Graduated Metal Rap and 100% Diss, Rock On does something really fascinating: it rips on rock stars with all of its artifice but also uses rock music as its sample. Hmm. Better not to think about think about this one and just let that distorted electric guitar do its job.
sound like rockstar, rhyme like rockstar, got the the word rock in it like rockstar, sorry too much like rockstar..but I like this betta than the shopboyz i hate to say
i must say dat when i 1st heard dis song i hated it and i have YET to start liking it. im not hatin or nuthin but im REALLY tired of everybody trying to be a @*#$! rockstar. just like a few years ago everybody wanted some damn dreds now everybody wanna cut dey hair. i live in da A and i just think its another fad that will eventually fade and the real ROCKSTARS will be the only ones left standing. then and only then will we truly be able to say...."rock on!”
i @*#$! with this. rock ain’t out of line yet because it sounds alright. three six been on it for a while and no one scolded them, so don’t hate now. when nelly, chingy, jkwon and all that midwest bull came out no one said nothing about them. they @*#$! up rap.
Hey Rico Sean, don’t you be dissing the Midwest! Although Chingy’s mainstream albums have sucked so far, he is a lyricist at heart, and we’ll see that on his “return to DTP” album.
When you diss the Midwest, you’re not only dissing St. Louis, but also Kansas City (Tech N9ne), Chicago (Kanye, Common, Twista, Lupe, Shawnna, Rhymefest, Ca$his), Milwaukee (Rico Love, Scottie Knoxx, Rusty Ps, Black Elephant, Arrested Development), Detroit (Eminem, Obie Trice, Trick Trick, Esham, and yes even Insane Clown Posse), Cleveland (Bone Thugs, Ray Cash), Cincinnati (K-Riley), and all other Midwest rap scenes yet to be discovered.
Don’t you forget it!
i’m not dissing the midwest i’m dissing “hip pop”. That’s what it should be called. tech n9ne, kanye, rico love, arrest development and the rest did not embarrass themselves when creating songs and on top of than they can still be respected for the music they make. no one you listed was a trend artist. chingy and nelly and jkwon were and are. including that huey dude. it just happen to be that they are all from that area
WACK it sound like a bad rock song. Im feelin tha beat but nuthn else.only 1 word 4 this dude. ORIGINALITY.
Dang HATERZ these days ppl cant have nuthn 2 themselves!
Rico Sean, all the “wack” Midwest artists you list come from St. Louis. And I agree, J-Kwon is wack (and so was Chingy on his three released albums-hopefully he won’t be on his upcoming “lyrical” album). I cut Jibbs some slack because he can go deep, plus he’s won several freestyle battles (all with no vulgarities). And Huey, if you listen to the whole “Notebook Paper” album, you can tell he’s not trying to be a “trend artist”. Give him time…
But you do have a point (Why do all the wack Midwest artists come from St. Louis?)
What it do bro dis song the truth the reason why because it got my boy sign this young superstar doing his thing everybody stop hate on the men. (Real Talk)
