Looks like we can add another name to the list of rappers doing it big despite hailing from the smallest state in the country: with Jon Hope, Theo Martins, Starrs & Murph, and now Mista Mista grinding to put Providence, R.I. on the map, we may be watching a full-blown movement take form. On his latest single, the doubly-named Booth newcomer informs us that, when it comes to succeeding in the game, he’s not about to compromise: he and his crew are All In. LJC mans the boards, serving up a syncopated keyboard-percussion groove as the emcee boasts about his mic skills, his charisma and, yes, his modesty (”I’m too humble sometimes…”). Supporting Mista on the guest tip are Jon Hope (who just dropped his Booth-sponsored WaterFire mixtape) and rapper/producer Taktix, who match the headliner’s larger-than-life bars with some dope braggadocio of their own. Finally, R.I. neighbor Crucial introduces himself to the Booth with a densely-packed closing 16. Craving more new tunes from this Ocean State upstart? I had the good fortune of meeting Mista this past weekend in Atlanta for A3C. I was familiar with his work before, but this new Booth feature is leaps and bounds better than anything I remember hearing. Good stuff, and hopefully a sign of things to come.

Damn - I don't know what I was expecting when I pressed play, but this still really blew me away. The beat's obviously minimalistic, but all the better to highlight some absolutely sick flows. Props.
