Promotional work has finally started for Missy Elliot‘s long-awaited seventh studio album, Block Party, whose first official single has hit the Booth. Working in her widely-appealing R&B mode, the ultra-creative Virginia native uses her “soulfully playful” vocals to describe how her man is the Best Best. Together with her longtime producer’s protégé, Danja, who gives the record a true eclectic feel, Missy has set up Best, Best to be a smash at radio like most of her previous singles post ‘97. Before the summer winds down, mark your calendars for her Block Party; it hits stores and online retailers in late August.
I missed Missy. I don't know how to classify her, nonetheless, she is one of the best female performers of all-time. This beat is more of a chill club beat. I like the change in the beat towards the end (would of been better in the hook or as a breakdown). Not a bad single.
im not list-n-ing 2 DIS cuz i dont like girl rappas/singerz cuz i like guyz sing-n 2 me...and i real-e dont like how she thinks she iz "da best thang eva"- cuz she aint!
WOW!!, you don't like old-school tracks or female artists. You're a female, right? So shouldn't you be supporting your fellow females on their grind & getting their shine? Please stop being so biased-give every track a chance!
Missy is killin um lately. I don't really like the drums on this. They don't really go with the melody. She shoulda got her boy timbo to do the drum rift. I am lookin 4ward to her new material cause it seems she ditched that awful dance music. I also look 4ward to her videos cause she brings it most of the time. This cool! 3.5
i actually like this song compared to the stuff she has dropped with the past two albums...danja did work on the beat...idk if this should be a single but its definitely a song i wouldn't skip on the album if its tight...
Extremely creative and fun to listen to, but it makes her lose that Missy sound to me, she sounded like lil kim in some parts to me. Definitely see this playing on the radio all summer, but not true to Missy and not gonna be in my car or ipod lol
This will kill at the club scene and girls will request this off the hoook at radio. If you disagree, then you clearly do not listen to radio, do not go to the club, or you live in a country outside of the US that I am not familiar with...
This track is dope. I'll be the first one to get behind a chick in the club when it hits cause the shorties definitely gonna love this. Trust what me and DJ Z is telling u
This bangs pretty nice. I agree Z, this will kill the clubs. Missy did her thing and Danja's production is nice. The drums could have been a bit cleaner though. But overall, a banger.
Missy sounds weird here...if I didn't know it was her, I would have thought it was a man lol! Anyway I'm feeling this, the beat is hot and she doesn't sing as usual! When I started the player I thought it was one of her typical songs (like Shake Your Pom Pom, to be clear) but she took me by surprise! After a while the track gets a bit boring, but it's very catchy! 3,5
@ wow: I don't usually contradict what members write here, everyone have their own opinion and you know I hate when they jump on me, but I have to agree with M Burmy this time...if you don't like female rappers I respect that, I am not crazy for them too, even if I'm a girl...but what I wanna tell you is that you should give a listen to every song! For example I don't like Wayne, T-Pain and other artists, but I listen to all the songs in which they are featured...maybe I like them, who knows! Anything can surprise us in the world! ;) it happens that a song is super for everyone but I don't like it...well I don't rate it or even don't comment it, but at least I listen to it! This was only an advice, don't get me wrong :)
i heard this last week around friday i was gonna recommend it but that requires work. Missy Elliot doesnt come hard to me on this song... The break she took was too long now shes out of it....
@ PATTY:i dont give her a chance cuz i cant stand her voice and if i cant stand her voice i cant enjoy da song. BUT i did list-n to it and it wuz a lil betta than i expected. i'll neva list-n 2 it again but itz a 2 star cuz i can stand it w/o turning it off unlike all of her otha tracks. But at m.burmy: u need 2 stay off of me cuz u alwayz got sum-thin 2 say weneva i comment...u cant make me change who i like list-n-ing 2,like wen u say: o that's garbage wow!!, y do u like dat?...go and list-n to so and so...I AINT GONNA CHANGE!- but im just- say-n.
Love this woman! She got a great flo, n her lyrics are ALWAYS on top. Shez got some sick beats, and she always exceeds expectations on all her albums. KANT wait till this one dropps. Keep doin what you do Missy!
love it or hate it, this will bang in the clubs. This is the type of song you can drop when the crowd is already hype and take it to another level.
The Danja beat is off the chain and that corus just fits. I would have preferred to hear an actual verse from Missy but hey...BANGER
i heard this the other day and i liked it but this time i love it... its one of those songs thats guna grow on u no mater what... i like it alot second round
rissamae u can't read I see...old problem! I didn't write I don't like female rappers at all, I wrote I'm not crazy for them, that means that if I have to choose I prefer listening to a male rapper, but also females have produced real bangers! There are some I like and others I don't like, for example Trina who has an horrible flow in my opinion. Please before criticising read better! See I can justify my statements ;)
wtf?! missy + danja = this????? hope this is just a leftover cut or a filler... not even on the level of loose control, one of the worst works by missy.
beat is pretty nice but overall its not a especially great track in my opinion. good but not great. but missy can have some good guest appearences and some good tracks and she isnt that bad of an artist. and i agree with pattypatty85. i'd regularly listen to a male rapper but some females can really throw it down on tracks. just as an example, but casha does an excellent job on the business by yung berg. her chorus is sick. so just cuz a female is in a song doesnt mean its not gonna be fire. but like i said normally i would prefer a male rapper over a female. thats all.
This is a hell of a banger to me! I could see them playing this at clubs just like DJ Z said. This is the song that girls can grind to on the dance floor. It would b good to hear these types of mid-tempo grinding dance tracks instead of always hearin the bouncy dance track (i like them, there's just too many of them).
