MIMS - Haters You Love Me
Artist: MIMS
Producer: Rix Melody
Album: SMD MixtapeChapter 1
Label: American King Music
Sometimes a song’s title says it all, and MIMS’ latest effort Haters You Love Me is one of those times. After the NY emcee failed to (so far) truly follow up on his breakthrough supersmash This Is Why I’m Hot, for many Shawn Mims came to epitomize the ringtone rap game, but lucky for MIMS all that hatred has only made him stronger; or at the very least inspired him to write songs like Haters You Love Me. With production from Rix Melody that takes a triumphant melody and underlays it with a clapping snare and soaring synths, Love Me finds MIMS sharpening his punchline game in an effort to finally put all those haters in their place: “My enemies fuel me, fans keep me gassed, so I never have to stop…Easy Pass.” That kind of attitude means that, no matter what the comments and ratings look like below, MIMS has put himself in a win-win situation. Smart man. Love him or hate him, MIMS isn’t stopping. His latest project, the SMD Mixtape Chapter 1, is due out sometime in August.

I don't know about you, but I like MIMS a lot more when he is fueled by his "haters." Thankfully, he is able to do this - without sounding angry - which is good because his vocals are still catchy enough for the mainstream to embrace.

The beat sounds skittering, too busy, and over-syncopated. Makes me lose interest.
MIMS' punchlines definitely have improved though. Both stars for him. |

not classic but yall under rating this joint .. that production is nice, the mix could be a hellauva lot better, but the lyrics are good and production is there ... this is a winning formula, hopefully his whole album got beats of this calibur, and lyrics with nice rich content like this.

Yeah I agree this track is being underrated simply because it's MIMS. Not that it isn't expected because a lot of his past work was wack. But this track is definitely a banger atleast lyrics def have that NY feeling to'em and track is involving without being bombastic. Good job overall

Honestly, I think MIMS is extremely dope...I think he is the most underrated rapper. He gets absolutely no respect. Thats cuz he's known for a shitty song like This Is Why I'm Hot when i wish he would be known for Move If You Wanna.
"A n*gga filthy rich till he need a bath" - that's absolutely filthy MIMS |

i like @Z's comment- his vocals are still catchy enough for the mainstream to embrace- this is very true and will work in MIMS' favour if he continues bringing out tracks like this

You know what I hate? I hate this environment where you can't simply not be feeling someone's music without being branded a hater.
I've got no hate for MIMS at all, but he's just not a great rapper. If "A n*gga filthy rich till he need a bath" is your best punchline, that makes you a decent but not particularly great emcee. The track's nothing special to me - but if it blows up I'll genuinely be happy for him. And if that makes me a hater, well then I'm a hater. |

You guys hate so hard its disgusting. I've been listening to MIMS since he came out. His albums are pretty lyrical the man can spit period. If Drake was saying these same exact lines he would get straight 5s and its disgusting.

Big-A a hater
@ ReturnOfSanta: I agree except for the "lyrical" part. I wouldn't call him pretty lyrical, but he definitely has some nice songs and dope lines. I also completely agree with the Drake statement. So true |

Poor MIMS, He like rodney dangerfield, "I get no respect, no respect at all i tell ya!" Only difference is Rodney was one of the greatest comediands to ever get on stage, and MIMS is one of the most mediocre rappers of ive ever listened to. He completely failed in using that song "This is why I'm hot" to prove AFTERWARDS that he wasnt a joke. Now this poor fool think he got haters - LOL. He doesnt have haters, having a hater means your doing something in your chosen field of expertise so exceptionally well that other recognize your success and see it as a threat to their own egos and ambitions. MIMS is no threat to any rapper or musician, he sets the bar very low. And by the way, MIMs does a very bad job of representing the NY music scene as far as rappers are concerned.

From the electro at the start thought this was Drumma Boi but then the beat came in and I was like oh, it's not :D Mims doesn't disappoint, he can spit.

It's better than I expected but still worse then it should be when you're talking directly to and about those who are your 'haters'. @Nate- I feelz ya; this whole 'hater-branding' has gotten a tad out of control. Not everyone is going to like what you're doing but it is not necessarily because they don't like you (as a person), or like what you're doing, you may just not be bringing it like the next man in that person's opinion. I think Yung Joc who is similarly as lyrical (not very) runs rings around this dude. I think the best rapper to ever talk about their haters to the date is Chamillionaire.

I don’t rate MIMS but I’m not going to front on this song, this was a massive improvement.

"I'M HOT CUZ I'M FLY. YOU AIN'T CUZ YOU NOT. THIS IS WHY THIS IS WHY THIS IS WHY I'M HOT."
Possibly the shittiest line in the history of hip-hop, and this is all most people have heard from him, ha. That's too bad. But I hope to check out his album when I get around to it. Hopefully he doesn't disappoint too much. |
