Mike Schpitz - DInner's Hot
Producer: Timbaland
Album: Mike Murder
Label: The Prize Package
Everyone has an opinion, but most of them are wrong. We all know I’m an exception to this rule, so let me share an opinion so that you won’t have to live through another regretful decision (sorry I couldn’t get back to you in time in regards to the head tattoo, Birdman): do not sleep on Mike Schpitz. The fan base, and the ratings, for DJBooth freestyle veteran Mr. Schpitz have been growing lately, a trend I fully expect to continue on third premiere leak, Dinner’s Hot. Mike does well to weave his extremely witty vocabulary - “my pound cake turn your head to red velvet” - over a slowly clapping Timbaland beat first heard on Jay-Z’s It’s Hot. If you can keep up with a classic track from The Life and Times of S. Carter, then you’re alright by me. If you’re hungry for more after Dinner’s Hot, be sure to download Schpitz’s DJBooth-sponsored mixtape Mike Murder when it hits our homepage on May 26.

If I had a dollar for every person who has hit me up over the last three weeks to tell me that Mike Schpitz is a dope rapper, I would be a semi-wealthy individual. Is the buzz warranted? To a strong degree, yes.
Similar to his past two freestyle features, Mike transforms this industry instrumental into a whole new animal. What I said last week ("Dope freestyle (punchlines for days) and another worthy addition to his forthcoming Booth-sponsored tape.) holds true once again. |

Had this dude on my radio show a month or two ago. Not only can Mike rhyme, but he's a student of hip-hop. He respects the music and you can hear this through his music. He's got a great flow and he knows how to lay down a verse. Expect great things from this guy.

I've been around since Mike Schpitz got his start and his growth has been phenomenal. He takes this beat and completely transforms it into his own work of art. To say that this guy has promise is an understatement. Mike Schpitz is my favorite rapper on the Chicago underground scene. I look forward to what he releases next; it's sure to be a banger.

Generally speaking I prefer Albums over mixtapes, but I'm really looking forward to hearing this project in it's entirety. If Schpitz was out to show people he can as he puts it "rap good". Mission accomplished.

If I had a dollar for everyone who told me Schpitz was a dope rapper, I'd have about twenty bucks, which ain't bad. That's a burrito and a few beers.
Jokes aside, I don't think I have to say how dope this is, so I'll just drop my favorite line: "Keep the lemons in your chain while I brew ice tea, I could give two f**ks about who like me." |

Mike Schpitz is a lyrical beast, but this beat does him NO JUSTICE. To me the production is straight trash.

Wow, he murdered this track for like 100+ bars. Its crazy how he can keep it up for that long. I didnt hear any punches either, it sounds like one flow with no cuts. Insane. Mike S continues to impress. Why does it cut out in the end, btw?

If this guy is trying to make people think he is a psycho, then he is succeeding. I of course am referring to his lyrical skills. This guy is nuts. For a white boy who looks pretty crazy based on his picture, I'm on his bandwagon. Classic production on top of some dope punchlines = an all around above average track. I would like to hear him jump on some hook duties. All of his tracks have been freestyles and while that isn't a bad thing, I'm just saying, it may be time to switch things up. He kept my attention for all four minutes and I'm just hoping his mixtape can do the same. Solid effort.

Damn, dude's flow on this and wordplay is nice. Didn't really like his last track. Production is nice on this too, makes you hear every word that he's saying.

So Mike Schpitz has been on the booth for a while now but every time I see one of his features I don’t listen to it. However the ratings always remain high, so I listened this time and was disappointed.

Good rhymes but I'm just bored with it. Go listen to Luda or Jay-Z. The flows change a few times per song. With Mike Schpitz, I've heard the same tired flow on multiple tracks. The rhymes are creative, but I wouldn't give this track another listen.
I can't imagine why dudes are knocking the production. It's classic. |
