It’s no glitch in the Matrix, audiophiles; the déjà vu you’re feeling is purely natural. Duke grad Mike Posner has again dressed up his ode to elitism in a third rendition of his hit Cooler Than Me (Single Mix). Since the radio finally started noticing that vocal uniqueness and catchy production were worthy of rotation, Posner has been on it like Woods in a brothel. While this one forgoes the Gigamesh production (and the Big Sean feature) as we heard on previous versions, it still keeps the summer mood flowing freely with Posner’s own quickly paced and synth heavy production, which he laces with semi-whispered vocals that drive home the same, direct message: “I’ve got you all figured out, you meet everyone’s eyes just to feel seen..nobody even knows who you are, who do you think that you are?” If you’re enjoying Posner’s latest effort you can cop the original on his One Foot Out the Door mixtape, available now, and be sure to keep a lookout for his still untitled debut album, due out late this summer.

With or without the refresh this song is a hit record. Its core - the melody and songwriting - can be dressed up in a variety of ways and with or without a guest emcee, but at the end of the day Posner shines regardless. Couldn't be happier for an uber-talented cat.

Not my cup of tea. I'm not feeling the beat, really toward the end. I found the hook kind of catchy and his voice was alright but the music just killed it.

I enjoy this dudes sound, very different. Little bit of Timberlake sounding in the voice but the style is different. I enjoy his tracks, this is a radio banga all day.

Man, I know the "hater" comments are going to come pouring in after this one, but am I the only one who thinks Posner can't sing? He tried to hide it with that breathy, talking delivery, but I'm sorry, I just don't enjoy listening to him sing.
Still, the track's definitely got some bounce, and I totally get why people are digging this. I wish nothing but the best to Posner, but personally, it's a pass.

I've loved all three mixes of this song. He's a genre-bending artist and crazy talented. I wish him all the best.
@Nathan, I hear what you're saying, the voice is polarizing, but through his evolution from the two mixtapes to his live shows now, it's definitely improving. I think it'll impress a lot of people on the album. |

I really like the unique-ness of Mike's voice. I like this track because its a feel good joint. And you can never go wrong with a feel good joint. Especially in the summertime. The only thing that I can say negative is how repetitive it is. Other than that its a solid track. Thumbs up to Posner

yo yo yo...i dont think Posner can sing, but he sounds good. kinda contradictory but he still sounds smooth. i think its jus that i enjoy his voice and style, but not his natural singing rhythm... if that makes any sense lol.

I've been looking into Mike Posner lately. He has a very fresh sound. I love his remixes. I'm inclined to give this "garbage" status to match his university, but I won't be that shallow... Yes, I do know who won NCAA Basketball this year.

This is alright, but it is nowhere near as good as the original. Hopefully he pushes the first version as a single. This goes from banger to roto due to the unwarranted changes.

I remember first hearing Posner last summer, on Big Sean's UKNOWBIGSEAN tape. Initially, I thought he was a rock singer by his voice. I googled him, and found A Matter of Time. I haven't stopped listening since.
I think posner is really talented, and his voice (not the greatest) distinguishes him from other singers. He has the niche to have hip hop loving him while getting mainstream appeal. I saw him at SXSW, and I know he did hip hop shows, but I only caught him at a pop show. Half the audience knew his music word for word, the other half didn't know but were dancing along. oh...and I love the song. |

Nice track, the production is the obvious highlight here. Nice bouncy beat that should do some damage in the clubs. Posner isnt a bad singer, though I wouldnt say he's anything flash. If he sticks to making tracks like this, he could be around for a while
