In March a rapper named Young Son dropped the DJBooth-approved track Success Is… Just eight months later the ode to independent grinding is back, this time with the newly-minted Mike Dreams working the mic and updated production from Izzy The Kid & Jimmy Easy. Sonically the core of the track remains intact from the original as a slow, piano-driven, appropriately dreamy beat sets the template for Mike Dreams to reflect on his drive to become a hip-hop hero, and the crappy part-time jobs he has to work in the meantime: “[People] busy seein me as a star in they eyes, while I’m still out dreamin watching stars in the sky.” When you’ve got heart and talent like this, success is truly just a breath away. Success Is… is now the official lead single off Dream’s upcoming and long-awaited album Dreamer’s Poetry, which still has no official release date.
