A lot can change in eight months. In March a rapper named Young Son dropped the DJBooth-approved track Success Is… Just eight months later the ode to independent grinding is back, this time with the newly-minted Mike Dreams working the mic and updated production from Izzy The Kid & Jimmy Easy. Sonically the core of the track remains intact from the original as a slow, piano-driven, appropriately dreamy beat sets the template for Mike Dreams to reflect on his drive to become a hip-hop hero, and the crappy part-time jobs he has to work in the meantime: “[People] busy seein me as a star in they eyes, while I’m still out dreamin watching stars in the sky.” When you’ve got heart and talent like this, success is truly just a breath away. Success Is… is now the official lead single off Dream’s upcoming and long-awaited album Dreamer’s Poetry, which still has no official release date.

I gave the original version a 3, but this has grown on me a lot. I am really feeling the entire mood of the record. This redone single is nice and crispy. Yes, crispy.

This is for sure an upgrade from the original version. The beat went well with the flow and mood of the song. And when I say mood, you gotta be in that ceratin one to really enjoy it, I was.

Anyone who's had to work a crappy job while chasing their dreams, and I assume that's everyone here, can relate to this one. Mike Dreams isn't afraid to speak about his real life, and that's why people connect to him so strongly. This one's definitely in rotation.

TYhe production here is a little to simple for me, it needs more depth, i love mike dreams, he always does well on a track, pouring his heart and mind in every verse, but the production here needs a little more texture.

I think both versions were classic.
Mike Dreams' verses were much clearer on this version. I like the added production by Jimmy Easy on this version as well...adds a little twist to it. Either way...like I said...its definately a classic track! Keep it up family! |

I get goosebumps thinking about how excited I was the first 5 times I listened to this track and CDQ makes it sooo much better.
"Dreamer's Poetry" is easily the most anticipated Album of 2010 for me. Been patiently waiting for it since March. |

When I first heard this, I remember I rated it far too low; c'mon it was his first song I actually heard... I wasn't concentrating on the lyrics, which were the reasons I gave it 'Three Stars' but this song did grow on me and the production became even more elegant and I actually had something to relate to when I started listening to the lyrics, I think this though is just as good... It goes on a bit too long when it should have stopped a little earlier but the overall feel is Amazing. 4.5 I think I may have to round it up.

not a favorite, but most def. rotation. actually, as it keeps going it seems to bang. so in a matter of 7 seconds, it went from rotation to banger.

I love your flow MH, but I find the production too simple and repetitive. It would need more energy! The beat is good and so is the hook!
