Mike Dreams sure is spending a lot of time saying goodbye lately. The last time we heard the Minneapolis emcee and Freestyle Alum he was waving to the haters, and now on his new single, making its premiere right here, right now, he’s saying So Long to all the negativity thrown his way. On the production side of the coin Jimmy Easy crafts a hard to describe beat (is that a mandolin?) that’s both pounding and beautiful, while on the mic Mike blends his trademark blend of honest introspection and punchlines: “All because I wouldn’t play the game / no I am not a Martian but I am not the same.” Throw in powerful vocal performance by Ryanne Noelle of the indie rock band Seventh Ascent and you’ve got a record guaranteed to leave doubters in the dust. That Hayley Williams hip-hop/indie rock thing is hot right now, and rightfully so. Like peanut butter and jelly, they're two tastes that taste great together. On a purely musical level this is the best track I've ever heard from Dreams - respect.

Really enjoyed the production on this one--and, like Nathan S. alluded to, it does have that "airplane" feel to it. Mike did well, and it's clear he has a chip on his shoulder--I mean, his past three released songs have been about how he can't wait to make it and prove people wrong. Time will tell. I will say though that the music business is a BUSINESS, and don't expect someone who is stuck in the middle between the Christian who can't swear and the hood emcee to go big-time commercial anytime soon.

This is the type of track that Mike clearly shines on. The production combined with Mike's stellar mic skills set this a cut above his previous material. Whoever was on the hook killed it. I think the production was the most addicting aspect, but damn, Mike is a beast.

Mike Dreams, I am blown away. 'Dreamer's Poetry' I'm still hittin' back to every now and then but now I got something new and fresh to bump to. This is going to be stuck in my head for ages I can tell. Amazing hook by Ryanne. CLASSIC.

This is an Amazing track!
Once again, Mike Dreams has put in positive and well thought out lyrics. Jimmy Easy is an incredible producer, as you can tell from this track. Ryanne Noelle has the perfect voice for this song as well. Overall, this is definitely a classic track! |

This joint definitely hit me in the chest. In other words, it sounds like Mike is tired as being dubbed as the "overly positive, non cursing, ambitious" MC. I could hear it in the voice that he is just wanting people to take him for who he is... I also will say his simile and punchline usage was better this time around too. Overall, good/genuine joint.
