Since the February release of his massively-acclaimed, Booth-sponsored Dreamer’s Poetry LP, Mike Dreams has been relatively quiet, only resurfacing to bring us mixtape leak How to Make It in America. Has my Minne-ap neighbor been off his grind? Yeah – and, if you glance out your window, you just might see a flock of pigs flying by. I kid, I kid. As always, the freestyle series alum has been putting in overtime, and Any Day Now, the lead single off his sophomore set, is proof. Making its world premiere right here in the Booth, the record finds producer Jimmy Easy serving up a pensive, slow-burning synth groove (complete with guest vocals by Dominoe Chy’ea and Toyebi Adedipe) as Dreams updates fans on his unrelenting hustle. With his head in the clouds but his feet planted firmly on the ground, he acknowledges that he’s still “blue-collar poppin’” but remaining convinced that “success is but a breath away.” Does this ambitious joint leave you craving more new material from Mike Dreams? IF you are reading this Mike Dreams I was just thinking about where you were and when I saw on the DJBooth Facebook page you were being featured I was pumped! Young Son was literally the first artist I listened to on DJBooth and I am a big fan and always will be but I feel I have heard this story from you a million times before and it is "ehh" for me. Otherwise keep inhaling dude you are bound to be successful.

Mike Dreams. Really respect your heart, hard work, perseverance, and, to some extent, your music. However, I really would like to know what your long term hip-hop goals are. How are going to define success? Platinum, gold, millions of records on the first week? While you do have some rhyming skills, your image (I'm talking about the one that refuses to swear on a record, OMG!) has absolutely zero commercial appeal. Your flow is just ok--you rarely switch it up--and your voice, ah your voice, lets just say that some MC's voices are better to listen to than others. It's a truism that hard work and perseverance are the keys to any successful career, and I admire that in you. But sometimes those qualities are not enough given the talent of the man within the context of the industry. Don't see it happening "any day now."

I enjoyed this. Great production, and Dreams has a flow you want to listen to a time or to to catch every metaphor and rhyme. Loved the oil in the ocean line.

Mike Dreams is definitely a talented artist, but for me this record was just OK. I respect the man for making music that people can relate to, but it is all starting to sound the same. Dreamer's Poetry was fantastic, but this is a bit of a let down. Mike is a booth favorite for me and I know his new project is gonna be fire, however, I wasn't feeling this one too much.

I was wondering what happened to Mike Dreams and I was pleasant surprised with this latest track. The beat and his flow are wicked and of course the content has some inspirational meaning to it. Keep on keepin on sir!!
