DJBooth newcomer Mike Champion, at 30 years old, is still relatively young, but on his new single Young Boy the Australian crooner demonstrates a style well beyond his years. On the introductory title track off the album, Champion shows his maturity, co-producing the subtle, jazzy track with Sergio Selim that perfectly complements his own laid back vocal stylings. Joined by a couple of interestingly-wardrobed ladies in the official visuals, Champion draws you in with a confident, smooth vocal performance that would make the likes of Vandross and Gaye crack a smile. Mike Champion definitely has an old R&B soul on this track. Nice vocals, good smooth groove beat and a tight video to match.
