Now, this is more like it. After listening to last week’s Breaking News, Michael Jackson fans were left scratching their heads thinking “What is this? Is it even MJ? Why are they releasing this at all, let alone as a single?” Apparently, somebody got the message that the track was a disgrace to the King in its current state, so they’ve decided to release the Akon produced and assisted Hold My Hand instead as the first official single. An unfinished version of the track was released in 2008, and was rumored to have been intended for an Akon album. That makes sense, seeing as how the song sounds as though Jackson is the featured artist rather than the lead, being vocally outdone by the Konvict Muzik founder. Behind the boards, Kon’s beat is pop friendly fare that could bring MJ back to the Top 40 chart he spent his career establishing. This is definitely a perfect single selection, and should let fans who were worried about the quality of the upcoming Michael album breathe a sigh of relief when they pick it up on December 14.

 I loved this song... when I heard it in the summer of 2008. Over two years later, I am thrilled to hear that it won't be wasted away in "unreleased record hell." "Hold My Hand" is a much better (more proper) lead single for the new Michael album (which shouldn't be made, but thats a conversation for another day) and with Akon on board (don't complain, he sounds good here too) it should gain some traction with a younger fan base. I think radio will take to this record. Think.

You can tell that this wan't finished, and I'm sure there is a little more Akon than MJ fans would like. But that shouldn't deter you from this song. It's still incredible, and I can honestly see this rising up the charts. I hope it does. It actually gets me excited for "Michael".

Yeeeeeah I felt this two years ago and I'm still feeling it now. At least it's clear that it's actually MJ on this one. I hope this one will get some radio play... Very pleasant
On a side note: This is an old track and it shows that Akon's current work is nowhere close to his older stuff |

Now this is definitely MJ on here, that's for sure. Michael sounds GREAT on this track. Akon and MJ sound great together too. MJ is just simply the greatest entertainer of all time; no matter what form of entertainment you put him up against. Little Babies that know nothing are mesmerized when you put them in front of a TV with an MJ performance playing. Same thing happens to me actually. Anyway, the production is tight, and the song is good. Lyrics are definitely On-Point... 5-Star $hit All-Day!

I didn't hear this when it first came out so this is new to me. Powerful stuff. I'm not a huge fan of pop music but I've always loved MJ. Not only will radio like it I can totally see this being scooped by some Disney exec to be used in one of their animated films provided they can forgive and forget Akon's past issues with their target demographic!

This is one amazing song........ omg. I love this soooo much. How cant you??? seriously.
The last record was a tragedy, and pissed off MJ fans. But this right here redeemed it. The only problem i have with this is that there is too much Akon. It needs more MJ. The production is fantastic and the chorus is breath taking. This song gives you chills. This is an instant classic for me. No doubt. |

It's catchy and would've given MJ a hit no doubt but I just don't see the fascination w/ Akon. He can hold a note but it's nasal as hell. Nonetheless it was good to HEAR MJ's vocals this time around.

This wasn't a Michael Jackson f. Akon, it was the other way around. Akon completely turnced this into his own track, and quite frankly I'm not really a fan of either artist, but if they're going to say hthis is Michael's song, then him sing it.
