Current industry sensation M.I.A. has hardly been missing in action the past few months, with her hit single, Paper Planes, hitting the Billboard Top 10. Recognizing her growing popularity, her label, Interscope, wisely decided to re-release her successful sophomore set, Kala, featuring a remix of Boyz with none other than Jay-Z. M.I.A. rhymes nimbly over a jangling beat that she co-produced with Switch, while Hova rants about the corruption of politicians and the need for Americans to vote for Obama. The combination of this budding international star and mainstream music mogul proves to be a powerful one, and this record will likely catch tons of spins at radio as a result. Watch for Kala’s re-release to hit stores and iTunes soon on Election Day, November 4.
WOW THIS IS A STRANGE AND SUMEWHAT DIFFERENT BEAT I QUITE LIKE THE MIDDLE EASTERN/HIP HOP STYLE OF IT,M.I.A DOESNT SOUND TO GOOD BUT JAY DID HIS THING ON THIS AND LAYED OUT A DECENT VERSE..
Yikes, this one gave me a headache. This is some weird kind of music that you need to be under the influence of to vibe with and understand. The whole song is just very annoying, and Hova's vocals are too low and overshadowed by yelling. Weak sauce, the only positive of this is that we don't have to hear Paper Planes 10x a day anymore.
This is mad weird beat. I dig it though. I didn't like the intro as much, but when it came in, it was a wrap. It was nice. Definitely not as catchy as "Paper Planes" (NOT BY ANY MEANS), but it's definitely mad creative, different and creative. Jay snapped pretty decent on this. This would definitely be a great track to get a crowd really, really hype. She's re-releasing eh? That's great. This seems like the age of the re-release. I like that idea...it helps you get due recognition for the people who weren't paying attention THE FIRST TIME. This is definitely on some experimental noise techno ish. I'm throwing it in rotation definitely.
I BEEN @*#$! WIT M.I.A SINCE BUCKY DUN GONE.. (2005) THE SOUND OF HER IS DIFFERENT BUT COO.. I LIKE THE SONG LIKE THE BEAT CUS ITS ORINGINAL, ITS DIFFERENT AND ITS COO.. @*#$! WIT IT
Too much of everything goin on the background, but M.I.A has some universal musical approach that I appreciate and Jay-Z made it possible to fit such a messy beat, so his flow is untouchable!
This is like some Caribbean music right here. Most on here wouldn't feel it. I kinda feel it. Not really my style. Her voice is alil annoying on this one. Jigga what are you doin on this?
If you are not sure whether or not to FINALLY jump on M.I.A.'s bandwagon, try to see her in concert (before or after she has her new baby). Seriously, I could not stand her. Then I was invited to see her perform at the Chi-town House of Blues w/ Lupe last year... damn! Blew me away. Hova was a great choice, but Wale also killed a version he does. Go cop the re-release on 11/4.
I could only understand about 4 words off of her first song, and I think I understood 5 or 6 on this one. Not sure if my rating is accurate as I can't hear WTF she's saying!
This has so much indian flavor its awesome. I love it. It makes me want to do some traditional indian dancing! I love how she's infusing both cultures...hot ish!
Nothing really special on this remix, the original is going to my favorite which is why I brought the cd the first time around after I bought her first cd. If I really want to hear Jay-z with her then I will just come back to the booth and rock it instead of buying it on itunes. All in all M.I.A is good artist regardless you can understand her or not, you just have to take the time to listen.
Oh my God this is really horrible...WOW:) I gotta agree with u this time, how can yall like this?! The only good thing about this song is the energetic beat...the rest is pure garbage I'm sorry, she sounds horribly! Jay Z is better but he does not save this from being garbage
Its not really my style, but I like the song. It sounds like it would be really cool if I saw it live. I also gotta take points off for them drowning out Jay-Z's verse. I couldn't even hear what he said. Its a cool record, though.
Theres so much energy on this track. I just cant sit still. Wow! I would definitely label this a club track to get everybody on the floor.
The beat is crazyyyy.
