The newest R&B group to emerge on the scene (and continue the ‘street R&B’ trend) is Boston’s Metro City. R&B purists who complain about hip-hop’s growing influence in the genre will no doubt cringe after listening to the lyrics of their new single, I’m A G. Nevertheless, if they pay a bit less attention to the lyrical content, they will take note of JY, Rey, Cyrus and 2Key’s stronger-than-average vocals. With additional help from RL (of Next) and mega-producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, even the principal purists should find I’m A G something they can enjoy. Metro City’s debut album, The Situation Room, will be released in 2008.
A lot of upcoming R&B groups have bee popping up the past few months and Metro City seems to stand out from the competition. They already sounds like vets in the game bringing back that old soul we all miss!
Darkchild never really disappoints! He helps out every career he touches. This is really smooth and right now the 4-guy group is in a drought period, so this market is WIDE OPEN for a group like this to take over. Watch out for these guys. Solid track!
As I mentioned, i think there are way too many "Boy Bands" afloat and Pimpin' ain't easy (so to speak). Metro City is GOOD MONEY! Like Jagged Edge, I hope they stick around for a while. I'm really feeling this song.
I like it, but the constant 'pauses' in their flow gets very annoying, and how many songs are named "Im a G" these days, for real? get a bit more creative with the title and concepts artists!
i remember these boys from season1 of keyshia cole's "the way it is" show...her music label (imani ent) wanted ta sign dem...guess it aint happen the song pretty str8 they're vocal are on point n darkchild does ryt...but i agree with fresh mint it doesn't stand out much, hopefully its not a single. but i will say im interested enuf to wanna hear wat these guys kood do.
cool beanz...but it cud b betta...they show potential...im kinda gettin tired of the hood rnb artist... it wrked 4 jaheim.. it doesnt really wrk cuz they next single they gon be whinin like keith sweat lol!!!! i try not to get too excited bout groups they tend not to last too long nowadays!!! i.e. b2k,pretty ricky,jodeci.destiny's child etc... but still kinda hot!!!
I think ya'll have great voices; especially Jy. Love the beat. I know our gonna be stars! The song is vey catchy. Just don't go breaking girls hearts lol. We are the ones that buy your music.
