Methuzulah - True & Living Honorable
Artist: Methuzulah
Producer: Spittzwell
Album: The Ventriloquist
Label: Heart of the Hood
Famously flipped in Enter the Wu-Tang inclusion Tearz, soul songstress Wendy Rene’s After Laughter has become the backdrop for True & Living Honorable, the first Booth feature and latest single from Methuzulah. Over project collaborator Spittzwell‘s sampling of the Stax Records classic, the A-Town rhymesayer outlines his personal code of conduct. GPW FLY contributes guest bars. For more, check out The Ventriloquist when it hits the Net at a yet-unspecified date this summer.

I like it. Sometimes when an artist chooses to spit over a classic beat, I end up thinking more about the original track, but Methuzulah does a good job of making the track his own.

The beat by Spittzwell was pretty average, but the lyrics of all involved kept it entertaining. Cool ass chorus. I can dig it...

I love the word play and the incorporation of the trumpet or trombone from (GPWFLY). The track flip from the Wu joint and the nod to Dug Fresh the Show on the hook connected something old and Familiar with a new Artist.

Solid all around. Its exciting to know that there is an entire project of tunes that are similar to this. (I am a huge fan and a big proponent of one emcee/one producer projects.)

The word play is DOPE!...loved how the artist switched it up each verse to give the track something new. Also I can really dig the musicianship with adding the chords from the horns in the back of the track. Bangin' track overall.

This song sounds more like a freestyle than a song. As a freestyle, I would give it 3 Stars because the artist can flow. But as a song, it sounds and feels very incoherent. The hook is cool, but I couldn't really differentiate it from the rest of the verse. Lyrical darts going over people's head has never really worked in the long run. I believe that if the artist simplifies his lyrics, it would allow the listener to understand the emotion that he is trying to share. Simplicity = Intelligence...In the end, this is just my humble opinion, and I wish Methuzulah nothing but success.

Honestly, I have no clue what he's talking about in the first verse and would even go as far as saying that a few new vocabulary words were invented, but the beat is nuts and the flow and rhythm he chose to use kept me rockin with it. I love the way the sample was flipped and the tone he uses over it. I don't think this is a "single" type record nor do I think this a song I'd lead off with if I were introducing him to someone else, but it is a dope joint altogether.

Good song. Using the classic Wu track showcased his lyrical skill. I'm interested in hearing more from this artist

I listen to the track and I like the artist lyrical word play. Also with the instrumental i do like the way how he flipped it but I would also would have luv some live production as well so that i can hear the difference from the original track by Wu vs his track to show creativity. But overall I can get down with this one.

Dope joint . As far as flexing lyrical muscle, this song does just that . Lyrically complex, but interesting enough to make you wanna figure it out. I like how the sample's been re-worked too .

Kills it with the rhyme patterns and rides the classic Tearz sample over the Ashley Roachclip break hype. Dope hip hop in every area, can't wait to hear it through some big speakers.
