Mello The Guddaman has been making a name for himself in Chicago’s underground scene for years. Signed to Twista’s record label, Get Money Gang Entertainment, the emcee is the front man of his own group, the Gutta Mob. While preparing for the fall release of GMG’s Who’s Got Next mixtape, Mello recently wrapped up the brand new track, Shawty is a Ridah. Despite the fact that plenty of pet names have already been given to hip-hop’s fictional girlfriends (see Baby, Boo and Honey), Mello’s ode to his Bonnie isn’t too cliché. Longtime Twista producer Toxic (of China White Productions), lends his talent on the boards, supplying Mello with smooth synthesizers and that catchy but overused autotune. Who’s Got Next is set for an October release.
Not too sure on this one. The production is good at times, but at times it also kind of sounds like a video game. The chorus is pretty weak with the autotuner, but Mello has a pretty solid flow and does an above average job. It's decent, but not something huge.
this song sucks. i won't lie, i cut it off halfway through. this half-ass attempt at cookie-cutter radio single just doesn't cut it. just flat out wack period.
Sooooo much potential on this track and I dont think he ripped it half as hard as he should have. I like the production but he just didn't handle it right. : (
I don't think this track deserves such low ratings...I like it! The production is great but I agree with Teaspoon, it should have been handled better, maybe by another rapper...this Mello is kinda annoying! Anyway it's in rotation and will go to my mp3 player, too
Wow. The ratings thus far have run the gamut. I think its somewhere in between. It's a doable listen, while being a carbon copy of plenty of past works, but it doesn't make you run for the stop button and corner X. This man usually comes harder, as I have seen him live in Chi-town several times.
