Melanie Fiona - It Kills Me (Remix)
Artist: Melanie Fiona
Featuring: Ghostface Killah
Producer: Jay Fenix & Andrea Martin
Album: The Bridge
Label: SRC/Universal Motown
As Ghostface proved on his most recent album Ghostdini, the Wu-Tang alum’s storytelling skills make him a natural fit for any great r&b track, so before I even listened to the remix to Melanie Fiona’s It Kills Me (which is currently blowing up our Top Picks chart) I knew the song would be a killer. Sure enough Melanie and Ghost didn’t disappoint, delivering a gut-wrenching duet that takes us deep inside their rocky hypothetical relationship. While the original cut’s deeply soulful and gospel-tinged production by Jay Fenix and Andrea Martin soars in the background, Melanie’s gripping vocals once again take center stage, with Ghost predictably playing the role of the cheating boyfriend (he apparently got his Tiger Woods on). I could be critical and say Ghost’s verse isn’t one of his best (true), but this song moves me so much I don’t care. For more great music from Fiona be sure to check out her new album The Bridge, available now.

Original is great as is this remix. I agree with Nathan, though, that Ghost is capable of a much better effort.

Ghost on any R&B track is a killer (no pun intended), including this one. He's deep enough to keep the track soulful while still giving it some edge. Ghost can do better (I heard a recent remix of Sade's Soldier of Love with Ghost mixed in and it was ill), but I'm not about to complain about a song like this. The original's great, and while I won't directly compare the two, this adds another element I really dig.

This is a pretty powerful song. The production has a great vibe. I can't really think of the word that describes it at the second but it is sick! Melanie sounded great, and Ghost, though he could have done better, was a great fit.

The orginal was quality, this remix didn't add but it didn't take away either. I'd rather jam the original, Ghost didn't impress.

love da original but this one wit ghost is jst as good. Her voice kindda reminds me of LeToya. they're both smooth, and have great transitions through out da song.

Feelin' this track. Looking at the artist youd expect an amerie type track but vocally shocked me. Soulful and meaningful. Ghost face sounds like a UK grime artist trying to be American!!

Fiona, this is another one of those hot azz track that is from the heart. I love the strength of the woman that you portray in this joint.
I need a woman like that and i feel the woman in you that sung that. Would love to hear a remix with Joel Ortiz on the male vocal. PBi |
