Melanie Fiona - Gone & Never Coming Back
Artist: Melanie Fiona
Producer: Jay Fenix and Andrea Martin
Album: The MF Life
Label: SRC/Universal Motown
Looking back on 2010 it’s clear that in many ways this was the year of the woman. From Nicki Minaj’s raps to Alicia Keys’ Empire State hook and much more, strong women like Melanie Fiona took their rightful place at music’s front lines. Fresh off the release of her critically acclaimed debut album The Bridge (and by “critically acclaimed” I mean I really liked it), Fiona continues to cement her role as a pillar of new school r&b/soul on new leak Gone & Never Coming Back. While producer’s identity
(produced by Jay Fenix and Andrea Martin) so far remains a mystery, whatever maestro composed this soaring, piano driven ballad deserves credit – it’s the perfect sonic backdrop for Melanie to showcase her gripping, emotional and undeniably powerful voice. Seriously – I don’t know how it’s possible to listen to Never Coming Back and not come away convinced we’re looking at a star in the making. Look for this epic to appear on her upcoming, currently unscheduled album The MF Life. (“MF” as in Melanie Fiona. God people, get your minds out of the gutter.)

It took quite a while for Fiona to get her debut on store shelves, but something tells me it won't take nearly as long the second time around if more of her sophomore effort sounds like "Gone & Never Coming Back." I am very interested in finding out who produced the track (we were not supplied with that information from her label), as it sounds like a backdrop that fellow singer Alicia Keys might use (and smash).

Definitely one of the greatest voices in the industry. Mealanie has a good chance at becoming a legend before she steps down. I mean....with a God-given talent like that....and with producers like whoever manned the boards on this track.....well let's just say we could be in store for something huge. Great job, and great song!

She attracted A LOT of attention with her last album, but only 1 of her singles excelled. Hopefully she will have a better era this time around. I like this one.

^ Three stars? Seriously? This may not be a chart smash, but I don't see how you could listen to this and not think Melanie's one of the best young voices of our generation. She absolutely kills this.

She has a beautiful tone. I just don't necessarily like her production, it's not full enough for her voice.

WOW, i dont see how anyone can rate this anything but a 5. This is a instant classic. Melanie Fiona defenitly has one of the best, pure voices out there. She sounds so great and smooth. I love this record, thru and thru. The production is really amazing. "Gone & Never Coming Back" is one of the best. powerful songs of the year, no doubt in my mind.

This is seriously good. I never really jumped on the Melanie Fiona band wagon, but I’m firmly on board now.
