After beating out some of the countries top vocalists last year on FOX’s talent competition The X Factor and securing a hefty $5 million recording contract, Virgin Islands singer Melanie Amaro is finally ready to drop her official debut single. With the numerous ups and downs the 20-year-old singer has gone through prior to her The X Factor win it should come as no surprise that Don’t Fail Me Now is quite the uplifting record. Despite its heartening nature Don’t Fail Me Now could easily double as a dance tune with its upbeat, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins-helmed production and Amaro’s lightly autotuned vocals. Don’t Fail Me Now is not attached to any project from the singer, but with its release I’m sure we can expect a number of new tunes from the Epic Records artist.

Wouldn't be more appropriate for a singer to craft a song that says "Voice, don't fail me now"? I mean, her feet could go, but as long as the vocal is still there music can be made. OK, well, semantics aside this is a middle of the road record for me. It has potential, but feels fully infested by the machine. Melanie's range and vocal is capable of much much more, sadly unheard here.

I'll give her props for her 1st single. Yea it sounds fairly mainstream, but in a unique way and Darkchild did a solid job on the production. Whether this will smash at radio is hard to say for sure, but surely has radio potential.

Love Melanie's voice. Loved the song. Hated the added techno. It totally throws off the melody and tone of the song and throws my mind into a loop of Killer Klowns movie. Don't ever do that again to such an awesome voice!!! Please!!
