A follow-up to her acoustic-based release last year, Junkyard Jewel, Brooklyn newcomer Maya Azucena has created a new mixtape project strictly for and with her friends on the hip hop side of the tracks. With a large underground following, in part thanks to a grassroots marketing movement from her label, Azucena is hoping that the appropriately titled, Taste This!, provides a new musical delicacy that has yet to be digested. On an exclusive leak from the project, entitled Rebel, Maya is joined by rappers Immortal Technique, Ness of the duo A-Alikes, and Hasan Salaam. Over a beat by producer Pete Miser the foursome discuss the breaking of rules; not mentioned were the breaking of boundaries, but after listening you’ll have heard those too.
MAN! This is made different! Real eclectic production from Pete Miser. I've never heard of this chick, but this is a great introduction. MAN. I'm giving this 5 stars, but I know some wack people here are finna rate it 1 and stuff, and that's just going to be so sad. Y'all don't understand. I.Technique came off! This is hip hop! I like this. Man, Pete Miser's production is so nice!
I like the sampling and scratching on this track. I love old school beats and this song has that JE NE SAIS CROIS flair. Maya has strong vocals. Immortal, Ness, and Hassan handled this beat. All I have to say is that this track is SERIOUS and ORGANIC!
It sounds like a Mary J Blige and Method Man cut theme from what Im feelin from the hook. But Immortal Tech,Ness & Hasan are rapping on somethin else. Maybe I got the theme mixed up. But this a Boo Boo ta Me and get's no play on the Rotation.
Da beat gotta nice old school flava 2 it. She's got an aight voice 2 me, it sounds like she could sound betta on a different type of beat. It not a 2 more of a 1.5!
