Sulaiman - Breathe In (Let Go)
Artist: Sulaiman
Featuring: Chris Mathien
Producer: Chris Mathien
Album: Sulaiman & Mathien Make a Record
Label: Unsigned
As a Minne-ap resident, I’ve heard many say that our frigid winters only make spring and summer all the more enjoyable. While I don’t buy it for a second where weather’s concerned, the sentiment does ring true as a metaphor for life’s ups and downs. On their first Booth feature as a duo, restlessly-creative singer/songwriter/producer Chris Mathien and Windy City emcee Sulaiman explore that very theme, encouraging listeners feeling down to Breathe In, Let Go of past baggage, and concentrate on what lies ahead. As Mathien sets the mood with some hypnotically mellow piano-synth boardwork, Sulaiman shares his forward-looking life philosophy, shaking his head at those who can’t roll with the punches, and celebrating the distance he’s come since he was struggling to put food on his table. Hypnotically catchy and (in Sulaiman’s own words) “totally f*cking lyrically stylish,” this laid-back banger is just the beginning of what the collaborators have in store for aptly-titled new street album Sulaiman & Mathien Make A Record. Keep it locked for release details!

I know we've talked recently about how much talent is coming from the DMV and Carolina regions... well, don't sleep on the next generation of talent from my hometown of the Chi. This new Windy City duo, for a project, bring a real fresh new sound (that you're probably already familiar with if you've been following Chris on our homepage the past few months). Sulaiman is new to the Booth, but not the recording booth - dude can spit. A bit monotone at times, but I'd say his flow here fits Mathien's production perfectly.

As soon as i pressed play, my head was banging. The production from Chris is just crazy good. Its so smooth, and he fits it perfectly, just like what DJ Z said.
This is a great record from Sulaiman. He did really great in this. His flow and verse just connected to me, and i cant help but absolutly love this. Also, the feature of Chris was a perfect fit. A banger for me. |

The originality and creativity of this really won me over. Mathien's voice is perfect over a beat like this (loved the acoustic guitar), and Sulaiman more than backs it up. Props.

I think this is pretty hot. I like the guitar in the track. Has a nice smoothness to it to be a rap track.
