Being that the label is run by the world’s primary social networking site, you’d expect the artists on MySpace Records to be on the cutting edge of both musical and technological trends. That assumption certainly holds true for Mateo, an R&B singer with an ethereal sound that’s both retro and forward-looking. In addition to setting the record for longest song title in Booth history, Oohh N Love (Evolution of a Track: Step 2 – Drums) may be received as one of the best indie R&B tracks to hit our frontpage to date. The combination of Mateo’s soft tenor voice and Adam Blackstone & JL Brown‘s heavenly-sounding beat will doubtless elicit comparisons to a few of the genre’s legends (Maxwell and Boyz II Men come to mind here). Mateo and the MySpace brass are clearly well aware of this cut’s potential—Oohh N Love is the only original track on the singer’s Underneath The Sky Ch. 2 mixtape (available now for free download), and will also be included on his yet-untitled debut album (set to drop in the fourth quarter of ‘09).

One of the more refreshing young talents in the industry. Writes and records some real soulful and moving music. Vocal tone is similar to Ryan Leslie, but his approach is as fresh as they come.

i dont know if its cuz im agitated, but the couple songs ive heard so far have not been good.
this song is so slow and boring. the production is pretty much non existant. i shy away from calling anything garbage, but this is really pushin my buttons. |

I agree with that1kid13. This song feels like it could be made into some techno remix but thats about it.

It's possibly simply because I've been into slower, softer music lately, but I was feelin this track. Underneath the Sky was my song for a while after it was featured here on the booth.
This didn't strike me as beautifully as Underneath the Sky, but it was definitely enjoyable. This is music you just gotta sit back, chill, and take it all in. Relax a minute... I think refreshing describes this perfectly, Z. |

This is the type of ish that makes me continue to be an artist!
This is fresh and eclectic. Dude has some dope production and the vocal mix is breathtaking (No Rainbows). For some reason, it sounds like it could have been on the Lion King soundtrack. LOL. But this is dope. Adam Blackstone & JL Brown are real talented, as is Mateo. I hope I get to work with this brother someday, cuz his sound is the future of music. Mark my word. |

The beat is real chill!! Reminds me of something that could of been on Kanye's 808's and Heartbreaks!! His voice is real smooth but the production could of been better!! |

Refreshing is the right word for this song because his voice alone makes this song stand out. Add in the catchy beat and this is a hit for me. Great relaxing music!

Saturday-cleaning-the-crib-mix-tape-music. I can dig it! Production is nice and simple and the line "I want to be the song the loves..." Man that's deep.
