Though Mateo was only recently signed to MySpace Records, the Booth newcomer is already showing signs of sky-high ambition—case in point: the singer’s latest mixtape, the Mick Boogie-presented Underneath the Sky (Ch. 1), marks the beginning of an ongoing storyline, to be further explored in future mixtapes and videos. The newly-released title track and single doesn’t do much to explain what this story is about (I’m thinking it has something to do with love), but it should certainly get listeners’ attention. Over JL Brown‘s sweeping, handclap-accented synthscape, Mateo soulfully addresses a woman who can’t seem to find direction in life; later on, the instrumental shifts gears as Not Really Here emcee Shawn Chrystopher steps in with a few words of his own. He got my attention with this track this is fresh! Sounds really original and those synths and handclap is hot! His vocals is really smooth and the chill feel of this song is refreshing! Banger!

Maybe its cuz of the mood I'm in today, but I was really feelin this track. I love the soulful vocals on here, and his voice is real smooth. The production is beautiful, and I really like how it builds throughout the first half of the song. I liked the melodies used, and when the hook kicks in it is big and very catchy... Although short, Shawns verse gives a nice contrast and fits well wit the mood. Very Smooth!

eh this is decent, listenin to the begining it start out real slow, real calm, and it builds up anticipation for the chorus, which has a good amount of energy, but doesnt last long, i feel it should use more energy in the chorus, and do the underneath the sky part, 2 times, not once, then that would give the track that burst of energy that is built up, overall a very nice track, smooth, nice lyrics, and touching

This is crack! That intro was nuts, and I'm loving the smooth vocals here. The track could have used a little more energy, and a little more effort in that chorus. Nevertheless, enjoyable listen for sure.
Anyone hearing a "Halo" comparison with the production? |

The production was pretty good, the vocals were good, and the chorus was ok, but overall it was boring. Not because of the tempo, it just didn't have the energy needed in the vocals, melody or production.
