If you’ve ever lit a Matchstik near a leaky furnace (disclaimer: don’t do this, ever), you’ve got a good idea of the explosive impact Surina’s Song had on the Booth back in December of ‘08.  Now, around five months after his reader-acclaimed debut, the Ft. Camble, Kentucky-born, Alabama-raised rapper is back in the best way possible: toting an exclusive world premiere (also premiering today: Jarren Benton‘s take on Chonky Fire, Bossasaurusremix of MURSEverything).  On this brand new cut, Stik reveals that his skills on the mic are second only to his loyalty to the streets—though he’s made it out of the hood through hard work and determination, he doesn’t neglect to Give Back to all his little homies.  The rapper’s magnanimous rhymes, combined with Cochise‘s exultant, midtempo instrumental and singer W. Phillips smooth-as-silk hook and backing vocals, make for a cut that could well become “that new summertime classic.” Itching for more of Matchstik’s warm-weather music? Grab a copy of his latest LP, The Concept, when it drops on the 26th.

Matchstik has a very good quality flow. The production doesn't quite match up to his level, but it does match up with his voice, which is always a plus. It deserves a couple of repeats, for sure. Nice premiere. Look forward to his next track.

The production is on point and Matchstik's lyrics keep you interested. The hook sounds a little awkward but I can spin this.

Defintely feelin' that summer vibe, like Z mentioned. Matchstik was cool but I thought the hook could have been better. I thought it was a little too much of a sing-song, but I guess it fit the summer feel. Production-wise this track was solid. Also liking the message. In the end, 3.5 but I'll round it up. I like these premieres.

The beat is real cool but I don't like Matchstik over it. He doesn't sound right on it.

I like the beat and the music, I like the melody above all in the hook. I like how the girl sounds, but I hate it how he sings, it seems he sings at random! Verses are good...in rotation

This has a nice summer vibe. I like the production and the verses, but I kinda wish the hook was sung on key or by a guest hook singer.
