Those who are vying for the heart of that special lady may be able to relate to Kentucky-born, Alabama-raised emcee Matchstik, whose witty rhymes and clever choruses are on display in California dreamin’ cut Surina’s Song. Producer Japiro samples a quick break off of Earth, Wind & Fire’s As One as the emcee (along with guest singer Foreword) offers a plea to his lady love. Found on his current release, The Concept, Surina’s Song could very well do what the chorus says and take Matchstik “to the top.” After a youth filled with ups and downs, including dealing drugs as a teenager and nearly dying in a car accident, the Los Angeles transplant is hoping his buzzworthy talents will help reel in listeners eager to hear his story.  We’re all ears.

This is good music! I love the production... lyrics and chorus are all on point. The only thing, it makes me wonder where are all the guys like Matchstick are... lol

His rapping/flow was cool but the beat wasn't- I didn't like it at all. OK.

Booth-heads, I propose a toast! To us sensible reviewers; leading by example, we have helped WOW:) evolve from a brash young commenter into a wise, experienced reviewer (which her above comment shows)! Salute! (watches members clang glasses, then makes toast)

OK, now to the song: I'm a sucker for old-school laid back beats and motivated verses, so each one with that sound I automatically rate a 5. (Yes, I know it's a cop-out to use the same one from last time, but I love both of 'em)

BTW WOW:), when I like one part but not the other, I typically give it a 2.5, which is rounded to a 3. Just to let you know.

Wow, this guy is great for an underground artist! Plies would loose all his female following to Matchstick if this song gets the attention it deserves. It starts pretty suddenly but they sure took their time creating a nice beat, lyrics and the intermixed vocals and rapping worked very well!

Cheers up! You sayn that MH makes me think at how long i've been on the Booth, and how much time i've invested on going down and reading every comment and everyone's different opinion on a song sometime's, looking for any little place to start a big conversation haha, Matchstick should blow up with this one, production is fire from Japiro, Matchstick's flow matches the whole song perfectly, and the chorus are all equaled into one thing = BANGERR!! CHEERS UP!, HERES TO THE BOOTH!!

i like how it has that story telling vibe..everyone has ups and downs but it all comes down to wanting to be on top. In whatever you do : dj, rap, produce...we all want to make it to the top. i like to relate to songs..as a "starving artist" i've been down that road, fighting for awhile to get me and my crew an art show..we'll make it to the top i know it.
