Although the Queen of Hip-Hop and R&B has released Hurt Again as the next single off her new album, Growing Pains, Mary J. Blige isn’t hurting at all. Released on December 18th, her latest LP has nearly reached platinum-certification (with just under a million units sold); a high-water mark that not many artists in the entire music business can brag about. Produced by Dre and Vidal, Hurt Again is the kind of song that makes Mary who she is as an artist. Unwilling to cater to an audience that wants ‘girl power’ records blasted in the club, Blige dedicates the single to the age old lesson of learning from past mistakes. Currently planning a tour for later this year, Blige can be spotted on the cover of the current issue of Vibe magazine.
MAN, THIS IS STR8 BUT BY FAR NOT ONE OF THE BEST ON THE ALBUM. WAS HOPIN FOR ANOTHER TRACK BUT I FUKS WIT MARY J SO WATEVA SHE DOES I SUPPORT...CUZ SHE A MONSTER IN THIS GAME.
Looks like Mary was feeling the pressure of her fans to release a reminiscent song for her next single. She continues to do her thing after all these years and along the way she has gathered an entirely new, young fan base. This track is better than any R&B song today, but in comparison to Mary's resume, it's only average. The recent steroid report is crazy...Mary, 50, Timbaland, Wyclef on steroids...say what? I think I hear the hip-hop police.
I love diz woman, her music is so inspiring...but the only thing that makes me a critic is da fact that 90% of her songz are kinda depressing & when i lisen to them i feel always feel sad..
i think thatz what makes her music so powerful but itz so nice to hear MJB songz that arent like this & are full of life & happy times rather then the blues...the song is still amazing but it doesn't stand out from her others...
Mary J is selling SOOOO many records now. Her last album went over 6 platinum in the US alone! Many of her singles went platinum and worldwide she is a BEAST when it comes to record sales. Mary is the real deal and she is here to stay (I think everyone knows this). That being said, I think Mary is making herself older by taking on these older themes and super mature feel good songs. Mary is still in her 30's! Most people would think she was almost 50! Oh well, its still a good track, but nothing is better than her "share my world" album when she was getting high. But still a good track!
