Already having built up a strong reputation as half of R&B group Floetry (and 1/4 of Mario and Sterling Simms’ songwriting team, the Knightwritaz), Aftermath signee Marsha Ambrosius knows it’s only a matter of time before she reaches superstar status. Using her current standing as an inspirational advantage, the London native is doing some courting around the city; whichever man wins her over will be her Co-Star once she makes it big. Toning down his usual high-tempo club beats, in-house beatsmith Focus comes through with enough smooth strings and brass to make listeners think that he was hired to be part of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Hopefully, Co-Star will break off with a strong internet buzz and thrust the talented singer into the mainstream.
I am really digging this smooth R&B track. Her voice shines throughout the song. It is nice to hear a track from a woman about equal partnership. That's what relationships are about (50/50). I thouroughly enjoyed the production. 3.5/5
Marsha appeared on a number of banging hip-hop joints the past year or so and her early solo work is sounding really great. I've listened to Floetry's albums and she is going through the group-to-solo artist transition very well. Her voice has a pleasant tone to it while being clear and crisp at the same time.
This has a retro feel to it. Nice track to ride to. I;m lookin forward 2 her album on aftermath. Floatry and Dr. Dre should make some good music. Solid track.
I believe she's an amazing artist, but this track is amazingly mediocre. I'm amazed how bland they made this track. But I believe that she'll have a banging track eventually and really show off her talent. Amazing no?
I always love Marsha Ambrosius's songs, voice and visuals. LOL. I like the production a lot. I'd run this back. This is my style of track I would bump. I love Marsha's feature work as well. Y'all should peep Common's "The Light 2008" and Rhymefest's "I Came Home". They are two dope hip hop tracks in which Marsha blessed nicely. I love her too. She looks so good.
this is MUSIC, this is TALENT right there! how can someone not appreciate this and rate it below 3 stars is beyond my imagination. y'all must have probably some weird taste in music
Great voice... no studio magic, no voice box, no effects. Just a nice set of pipes. The industry would be lucky to have a Dr. Dre produced Marsha album.
@ WOW
go and cop that Soulja Boy, Shawty Lo, Jibbs, Huey bullshit...I really would like to know now why exactly you didn't like this song!! beat is musically and hot, she can SING, hot melodies and harmonies, no voicebox and @*#$!, real good lyrics (and please consider she writers her own stuff too!). so what exactly makes this a 1 star for you??? I DON'T GET IT
k, Big-A: i dont know if ur GET-N ON ME 4 not like-n it or just TRY-N 2 KNOW y i dont like it.? so...if ur just WONDERING, dont take offense to DIS comment- but itz 4 everybody else alwayz HATE-N ON ME!!! :y da hell shud u ALL care who i list-n 2!?! i like soulja boy, WHO CARES! i like Rocko, WHO CARES! i didnt like da song! i dont like female sigerz!t aint my type of song! all im here 4 iz 2 list-n 2 da song and rate it how I LIKE. i cant control wut my ears like 2 list-n 2! By any chance WOW, how old are you? I was just wondering. I'm not saying it's an age thing, but why is it that you don't like positive or intelligent content as much. If these type of songs were over a "better" beat, would you like it? Is it simply the music that makes you like or dislike a song, or is it the actual lyrical content that turns you off?
@ michaelhannah: im 16...and it aint da lyricz @ all. i just cant list-n 2 a song when i cant enjoy da bea cuz da beat iz alwayz wut u have 2 hear and if itz not pleasing, da whole song iz not pleazing.
I agree with WOW:). If the beat is not good to me on the song its impossible for me to like it. Even if everybody else likes it. One song example is ME & U by Cassie. The beat sucked on that song yet everybody else liked it and it god played through the roof in 2006.
