Introduced to the Booth via January’s Do It 2 Death, MarQ Spekt returns to bless our eardrums with another exclusive world premiere. Album inclusion Rum Punch finds the ATL-based rapper flexing his flow over a Caribbean-informed instrumental by Mr. Enok. Fellow School of Sharks member Lex Boogie contributes guest vocals. For more from MarQ Spekt and his SoS colleagues, check out the crew’s forthcoming, self-titled LP when it hits record stores and online retailers this summer.

The reggae style on this joint is sick. Good beatwork by Mr. Enok and great work over the beat by MarQ and Lex. This bangs.

So few artists feel comfortable veering toward a reggae or dancehall sound, so kudos for bravely going where few have gone successfully before haha. The vocals are not as authentic as some might want, but the vibe was right.
