Hip-Hop hot spots usually stand out because of a unique sound (New York has street-heavy lyrics, Houston is chopped & screwed, and Miami has lots and lots of bass). Unfortunately, Washington, D.C. hip-hop does not yet have a truly unifying sound. Fear not, residents of the nation’s capital, because 19-year old newcomer Marky is here! Helping to spearhead this movement, which is fashioned after D.C.‘s go-go scene and bolstered by a deal with veteran exec Steve Rifkind’s SRC Records, is Marky’s first single, Sheila (I Want Her). Produced by in-house beatmaker AB The Producer, the record possesses one of the earmarks of a national hit: it appeals to folks who don’t even listen to much hip-hop. Marky’s debut album, Hate Is the New LoVe, is currently set to drop sometime in ‘09.
lyricz r real-e REAL-E SEX-C=) i like that!!;)...n-e-wayz (lol)....im not real-e sure "Sheila" wuz tha perfect title or girl name for thiz song....tha beat iz fine and i real-e like tha rap-n...tha one thing that i hate bout thiz track tho that i hate iz tha chorus!! i dont like that part @ all..but still in rot. i wanna hear more from him 4sure:)
Lyrics are cool and good production! The chorus sounds weird to me. That is one downgrade of this song...does he notice his voice is hella off beat on the hook?
The Swing beat is hot. Once again, the people WHO COMPLETELY MISSED THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF MUSIC, the chorus is a remake of an original by "Ready for the World". This song is mad creative and the production is pretty hot. His vocals are definitely a tad off. It's as if Shawty Lo did an R&B song. I'll throw this in rotation, but it's not THAT good.
That album title is WAY over my head. I can't seem to form a productive opinion about this song. I love the production. The content is normal. The hook was sampled from a song I usta dig, but him singin it sucks. This is alil better than ok.
I honestly am not sure why I like this song. When I first heard it, I hit up Marky and told him to send it on over. I seriously keep listening, trying to figure out what it is that the song is doing for the pleasurable part of my brain. For those who like this record, what is it that grabs your attention?
I'm quite feelin this...Z what grabs my attention here? Well, the background music. I think it's excellent, sweet and sexy! Yes, I really love the production. I like and I don't like this, I mean I like some parts but not others. I think he's decent when he raps but I'm not feelin him in the hook, he sounds out of tune...he should have chosen someone else to sing. Maybe a Trey Songz?!
he def doesnt need someone to do his hook, he makes it interesting, i like this song a lot...Z, its the X factor: what's the X Factor? no clue, but i like it
