Mark Ronson - Bang Bang Bang
Artist: Mark Ronson
Featuring: Q-Tip
Producer: Mark Ronson
Album: Record Collection
Label: Columbia Records
Judging by Mark Ronson‘s diverse oeuvre as an artist, songwriter, musician and producer, the Allido Records co-founder must have a pretty damned extensive and eclectic Record Collection. For further proof of his wide-ranging and adventurous musical tastes, I refer you to Bang Bang Bang, the newly-released lead single off his third studio album. While the headliner’s uniquely body-moving production work is far from guest emcee Q-Tip‘s usual, the match turns out to be one made in heaven – the Abstract’s stop-start flows are the perfect complement to Ronson’s stuttering guitar-organ groove. Singer/electronic musician MNDR (aka Amanda Warner) rounds out the lineup, informing us that “There’s no hiding behind molting feathers” on the blistering, double-time chorus. While I have no clue what that means, I do know I’m going to have this stuck in my head for the next couple days. Those digging this single can find more on Mark Ronson’s Record Collection LP, set to hit stores across the pond July 11.

Q-Tip did what he does and gave solid verses. That along with a nice beat, is in-rotation. 3.5

Mark Ronson is easily one of the most creative producers working today (his work on Amy Winehouse's album is classic) and he continues to prove how eclectic his record collection is. As for Tip, this is actually more in line with the work he's been doing lately (see The Renaissance, Kamaal the Abstract, etc.). Not for everyone, but if you appreciate quality and creativity, you've got to love this one.

Maybe I had high expectations, but Im not 100% feeling this. I thought this would be an incredible track since its one of my favorite MCs and one of my favorite producers, but I wasnt too impressed.

This is such a refreshing change...and how dope does Tip sound on that beat? MNDR is just alright, but Q-Tip alone makes this worth a listen. 3.5

Production certainly got a unique and eclectic energy. MNDR's vocals and Q-Tip approach really works well for the beat. Even if you can't get into the vocals, just that beat alone... as a whole package, you best believe I would blast this on repeat.

The chorus overshadows Q-Tip here which isn’t necessary a bad thing as the song works well together.

I didn't like it because i thought from the beginning the beat, hook, and background was annoying. I honestly didn't finish the song but it did get better as he started rapping. but it still wasn't too good.
