Peaking at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100, the unconventional Break Up was Mario‘s biggest hit since ‘04’s Let Me Love You. With the follow-up single, the singer reaches out to fans of his more traditional R&B balladry in addition to the club crowd. Thinkin About You (an unofficial, Ace Hood-assisted version of which was previously leaked to the ‘net) finds the artist pondering what he’ll do after the party is over and he gets a certain lady into the backseat of his Ferrari. As if Mario’s Trey Songz-esque vocals and Rico Love‘s songwriting weren’t enough to sweep this female off her feet, The Runners heighten the ambiance yet further with a steamy, synth-packed instrumental. Those who like what they’re hearing can find more on Mario’s hotly-anticipated D.N.A. LP (formerly known as And Then There Was Me) when it hits record stores and online retailers Oct. 13th.

Rarely does Mario release material that either A) I don't enjoy on the first listen, or B) I learn to love after quite a few listens (see Break Up). This should do well at radio, but I'd like to see them continue to push "Break Up" before working this new single.

For me Z, it's Mostly that Mario release material that either A) I don't enjoy on the first listen, or B) I learn to love after quite a few listens. But this is different at first I wasn't feeling it but by the end of the song I had like it. Nice work, Mario.

a few of his songs ive heard recently was either a super hit or a super miss. this one im just half way on. its kinda slow, slightly borin. but i like the rhythm and his singin is nice soundin.

yo yo, Mario lays it down. i can tell he is takin a new direction w/this album and i like it. not only does it show his musical capabilities, but he sounds damn good in watever path he takes.
i gotta give this a 5 to make up for accidentally reacting too soon and givin Break Up a 4. right now i think this is a 4, but hey my opinion might change on this one too. |

My initial reaction to this is higher than when Break Up debuted, but that became a classic in my book. I like this a little, but its a grower. I doubt it will do as good as Break Up.

mario's real or hit or miss lately, but this one is well done. the beat is not too hard, which suits his vocals, and the track lyrics/concept is perfect for a 2nd single. should keep ace hood on it tho or at least another rapper for verse 3...

I'm really not feelin this right now, but like Z "Break Up" was a track that grew on me quickly. Right now I just don't feel anything pop out of this track and grab my attention. His vocals sound lazy, and the melody and production seem a little "kiddie" to me.

Comeback artist of the year right here!!
Mario has been one of my fav R&B artist along with Trey Songz and J. Holiday for the past couple of years!! When i first heard "Break Up" I immediately thought dam Mario is back!! I'm still bumpin break up since i first heard it before it had all this mainstream success!! "Thinkin About You" will have the same if not more success in the mainstream market than "Break Up" did!! |

The Runners production was (as always is the case) on point! Simple but still matched the vocals perfectly. Im iffy about it being bigger than "Break Up" tho, only time will tell....

Mario IS my favorite R&B singer ever since all those songs started leaking before the release of the Go album. He has unreleased material that would rip any R&B cat's album straight out tha water (i.e 'Promised Land', 'Stuttering', 'I Choose You', 'Emergency Room', 'Ooh Baby', 'Soundtrack' etc....) This song is good but considering the songs he could have put out, this seems like a real safe single choice. Its nice, but nothing really stands out too much, especially after the abstract monster that is Break Up. Lookin forward to the DNA album its gonna be dope! 4 stars

a lot of ppl talkin bout this being simple,lazy and nothin standing out, but I Gotta Feelin is the definition of simple,lazy and where nothin stands out.

Wow! This is WAY BETTER than Break Up. Yeah, I was really feelin' this track right here. Way to go Mario. This could be a definate hit.
Yeah, I'm glad Ace hood's not on this official version. I haven't heard the previously leaked cut, but Ace would've just ruined it. |

to go from "right and a wrong way"(which he murdered..keith sweat should be ashamed) to this...he kinda downgraded vocally..but still its a hott song |

This is way more melodic then 'Break Up' which was drivin' by a hard beat. I prefer these kinda R&B tracks versus the one's with a Hip-Hop beat. Smooth R&B records always hold up better for me then the club records.
