If my walls could talk they’d probably say something like, “Nathan S. spends a lot of time sitting around and writing about hip-hop.” Luckily, Mario’s walls have a lot more interesting material to report on, namely some after the lights go off activities from a certain fine female. Continuing Mario’s recent trend of furniture/construction related titles (see previous release My Bed), The Walls is everything we’ve come to expect from the always smooth singer. Bedroom burner mainstay Rico Love provides the production backdrop, interlocking snaps and beating percussion with some atmospheric bass and rolling bass lines. It’s exactly the kind of beat Mario’s been lacing with his always on point vocals for years, and Walls are no different. If I’m being honest, as good as it is, the not-as-punchline-heavy-as-usual verse from Fabolous feels superfluous (thanks Thesaurus.com!), but I’m sure plenty of commenters below will disagree; have at it. Regardless, it’s a hell of a way to keep Mario’s march towards his fifth studio album moving towards both a solid title and release date.

Not that I absolutely hated "My Bed," but "The Walls" is much better suited to Mario's lane as an artist. Without sounding like I am boxing the man in, I want to be clear - Mario is a wonderful singer. Its hard to show that off through a club-oriented jam. Even here on Walls you can tell he holds back from fully letting go.
Fab is always solid the guest tip. R&B-centered records are his specialty. |

LOVE Rico's production, especially when he's on his minimalist ish. Fab is solid as always, and I've always been in love with Mario's vocals. Much better than "My Bed", in my opinion.

I did find it boring but then I am writing this comment after getting up early to get to work...so this aint helping my yawning to go away. Maybe if I heard this late at night with my lady closely snugged beside me the comment would be different.

It's better than "My Bed" for sure, and it reminds me of his older work.

Wow Mario....it's good....In fact Fabulous:).....I like the name "The Walls"...very meaningful lyrics:)....especially "If the walls were watching":).....To describe this song in one word.i.e "SMOOTH"........soft vocals...gentle music(super smooth tempo, slow beats,)...smooth rap (exactly opposite of "My bed" it was not smooth:)..but your wall is!!!... pun intended:) when I first heard "My bed" I thought a Hit song must be around the corner:)!!!:)."The walls" sounds good bcoz of song "My Bed" imho:).......keep up the good work!:)

It's okay but not grand..of late I think Mario has gone quiet
Unlike his past songs I don't have that catchy hook stuck in my head so I guess I'm not really feelin it that much |
