After two consecutive well-received R&B projects, singer Mario is changing up his style. According to a source close to his camp, the Baltimore native will be going with a dance/pop vibe on his next album. Currently untitled with no set release date, the LP will feature material like Green Light, a record that was recorded last month. Produced by Jazze Pha, the song features Thriller-esque elements, which allow the young singer to channel his inner Michael Jackson. After several long delays, Mario’s third studio album, Go, finally reached store shelves this past December; he hopes that his next project will be out at the same time this year. From the sound of things, he might get a green light.
I'm normally a pretty big fan of Mario but I'm not really feeling this song. However, I did recently hear "I Choose You" and "Promise Land" by Mario and I liked them a lot more than this song. This song doesn't fit Mario's normal style that well... but he could have more radio success with a song like "I Choose You" where he actually uses his great voice and has more of a R&B sound.
I agree with you JayhawkA13 this is not Mario style at all...It is amazing that good artist are always trying to change up there style when nothing is wrong with the old way...different is great but this is extreme!
The song isn't too bad. For an uptempo by Mario it's pretty solid and it sound like a good album track to me. I dunno how well this would do as a single. Every artist seem to be doing songs like this nowadays so who knows.
Definetly not comparable to that OTHER Green Light song out right now, haha, but Ive always been a fan of Mario. This just doesnt impress me much, nothing stands out on here and the vocals are pretty calm. Just ok to me.
Yea the OTHER green light is way batter.. Cant stand that vocal pitch correction @*#$!.. Almost t-pain ish but not as blatantly used. This foo gets a two
Good uptempo song...could go either way..a decent album track but not a single. However like THEGREATEST stated earlier, if it hits the radio, it will hit. Maybe a remix version is needed here.
Mario should leave the MJ feel to Ne-Yo. To Me, this is just ok but I'm sure clubs will let it rock. Didn't Cinderella wear glass pumps? Can't groove with those on.
Yeah, what's with the same title? Come on people. This is certainly a hot styled song, but I feel like if Ne-Yo sung this, it would BE A HIT! For some reason, Mario just doesn't cut it on this track vocally for me. His vocals don't come strong enough. It's really a shame because it's a great song and everything...he just needed to be more intense.
This song isn't bad.Sounds like something you can salsa to. He just got off the Dancing with the stars show. He knows he has a new adiance with this upcomming album. He has Pop status at this point. I wonder if this will work as a sucessful single, but I do expect a good album so he should follow this up with a banger.
This is is alright, not really feeling this beat with his voice, i've always loved Mario's songs, i still have Let Me Love You in my music library, im a huge fan lol, i just listened to i choose you and its reallllly great, alot better than this, but props for trying something new.
This sounds SICK! I am feeling this right here! Definitely sounds like a smooth MJ! Really feeling the chorus and the bridge and all! SICK TRACK! Definitely a CERTIFIED DJ BLAZE BANGER!!!
This song is hot it's very different from the other songs that's out. He has his own style on it he didn't copy what's hot now he also has the MJ influence which makes the song even better. This is a orginal song the lyrics are great nice dance feel to it, the beat is awesome. If songs like Disturbia doing well this will too it's right up there with good job Mario.
this is Mario's best since Let Me Love You, the first two beats sound like billie jean, probably on purpose to help instill that MJ feel, the drum pattern then switches up, the swag on this is redic!
I like Mario...he's shown growth vocally...and his song selection isn't outta his range...this song is nice and chill...good to hear him back to recording
