Though E=MC² went platinum and spawned the #1 hit single Touch My Body, its performance was immensely disappointing by Mariah Carey standards. Moving onward in spite of that setback, Mimi is scheduled to drop her follow-up, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, a mere 16 months later. On her latest single, Mariah airs her grievances with a man who seems to be madly Obsessed with her, singing over a Toomp-esque beat by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart (reminiscent of DJ Drama‘s Tipper Love). Many have speculated this song’s target to be be none other than Slim Shady, who claimed to have had a romantic affair with Mariah on Relapse track Bagpipes From Baghdad (notice the “it must be the weed/it must be the E” line and The-Dream‘s “Will the real MC please…” intro). In any case, expect this record to bring the singer one step closer to that #1 singles record (right now she’s two behind The Beatles), and renew the public’s longstanding MC Obsession in anticipation of Angel‘s August 29th release.

This is AMAZING, not only do I support her in her issues with Eminem, but this is a pretty darn catchy song! When do Dream and Tricky not deliver a banging production? This is #1 material, mark my words.

I heard it last night and it's not that great of a song. I mean, I love Mariah Carey to life and she makes good music...but I found myself becoming bored during this song. I want to hear something else from her new album.
BTW, Nick Cannon better feature on the album with a verse. If you're still sleeping/laughing, give me your email and I will personally send you his debut album. Granted, there are a few "crunk" tracks (which still had decent bars and if it was ANY other rapper, people wouldn't hate), he has some dope soulful joints. Kanye West taught him how to make beats, so they have a similar style. There's a joint he has with MJB that's classic. This is not a joke. Please, take me up on that email offer. I will send it to you. As for this song...I need something more. We need another "The Emancipation of Mimi" album. That was classic. |

A few things must be said; auto-tune should be reserved for those who we know can sing for the affect; give you an ex. Jamie Foxx his auto-tuned track "number 1" was absolute fiyuh. This does get boring and I believe it's the lack of another feature someone who can produce a clever sing-song rhyme scheme but still deliver a bit of wordplay...(whom, I'll leave up to you...) This would then be of classic status until then. 3.5.

First MJB on AT, now Mariah. I wonder what Whitney and Toni Braxton are thinking. Overall, the production steals the show here. Like I said the other night in regard to T.I.'s new record, anybody would sound great over these synths. This SHOULD do pretty well at radio, but #1 would surprise me.

Can I make a statement here, because I noticed this on multiple sites and in the music world in general. Auto Tune isn't as bad as people are making it, if it sounds good, why complain? Just becuase Jay-Z made a song called "Death of Autotune" doesn't mean autotune is dead, and I wholeheartedly support T-Pain's album "UBER" due in November.

I didn't think she could pull off the up-tempo stuff, but it's like Z said...any body can sound good on this beat. I actually like the way this one is put together. Still not as good as Touch My Body or I'll Be Lovin You Long Time, but still good. As for the lyrics bustin up on Eminem...don't know what to think about that.

I have never been a big fan of Mariah & this song isnt going to change my mind. I personally find her to be a little arrogant (in her music & in the press).
Her vocals are decent, though why bother using auto-tune when your supposed to be one of the best female R&B artists of all time. The production from Stewart was decent, though it was always going to be hard for this song to get above 2 stars. |

The bouncy production from Tricky and Dream was pretty tight, definitely a made for radio type of joint. I didn't get the energy from the production on the vocals side though. Mariah sounded a bit lazy on here and kind of went off track with her lyrics. It's a good song, but not in my rotation. But hey, it doesn't need to be in my rotation because it will be in every radio station's by next week.

But the production is HOT!! Every time Tricky and Dream get together to produce it turns into radio gold!! I can see this getting some good radio play but not good enough to become number 1 hit joint!! |

The Columbia Mariah would be ashamed of this new Def Jam Mariah for putting out this single. Her voice is nowhere near where it used to be and a record like this doesn't even allow her to show off those pipes. Rotation, but not for very long.

i saw this song on a couple other sites and the ratings were always really low...but only when i read the comments there that i find that people didn't like it because she was goin at Eminem...well i like it. she should stand up for herself and what better way to do it than to make a song that will get alot of radio attention. as for the Auto-Tune, i don't think one of the best singers ever should need to use it.... but whatever. the production is dope and the song is catchy. this isn't goin to #1 (#19 isn't gonna come off this one. lol) but it is still a solid offering.

The production is fresh and catchy and Mariah Carey was solid. Nice way to get at Eminem with a radio-ready song. The hook is alright but I think she could of came harder with her vocals. Still a nice track.

Yeah, its decent. I like the swagger she’s coming with but it does get so boring by the end though its nicely written by Nick, i mean Mariah. Well what do i know except It’s a HIT for sure, radio stations gonna eat this up. The subject material alone is gonna get this track so much attention.
But one thing dats buggin me is that this could've been easily pulled off without using voice altering studio techniques. @Z you're in for a real surprise cos i can already tell the girls be like - "this is perfect for them nig*as that are obsessed with me of course." lols ... |

wow, i cant believe mariah would diss anyone, let alone the guy who is the best at dissin other artists. pretty funny song, i thought it was a pretty good diss. if it wasnt intended to be a diss i would prolly like it more cuz its a great song w/out the diss anyway.
