Relationships are like prescription drugs – they always have side effects. No, that wasn’t an attempt at humor. Rather, it was an educated comparison based solely on Mariah Carey’s newest feature inside our Booth: a remixed version of the Jeezy-assisted Side Effects, which now boasts a new middle verse, compliments of Busta Rhymes. Over an uncomplicated, synthesized production from Scott Storch, Carey describes the problems she has encountered as a direct result of her past relationships. Blaming youth, inexperience and men, Carey seems strung up on her past, but Rhymes plows through the door and reminds the newlywed to forget the past and focus on the future. There is no word on whether or not Side Effects will officially be released as the next single from Carey’s platinum-plus album, E=MC².

All I can say is not a favorite of mine, but rating it for effort. Her voice sounds like it's kind of dying on this track. Busta was alright, i've heard better. 3 stars~(**)~

and i know people are sayin that she didnt do the power vocals all the way through the song like she normally does, but this is a radio banga. You don't always wanna hear someone powerin it on a track. Sometimes, you wunna have somethin that you can sing along to. yah know?

This song is very good! Can't believe someone wrote it's a throw away track...To me it's way better than her single out now (don't remembet the title)! It's catchy, well-produced and she does her thing as always! Busta's part is useless...the main thing in the track is Mariah's lovely voice! I keep on preferring her uptempo tracks, like Migrate (I hope it will come out as her next single, I'm tired of ballads and midtempos), they have something more! 3,5

In rotation. Like she does her thing and thats it. I miss the old Mariah- she def doesn't utilize her vocals as much as she used to I guess she's at the point where she figures she doesn't have to... anyway I don't dislike this track its just whatever, Mariah does Mariah and Busta does Busta. Same old.
