Maino - Tiger
Artist: Maino
Producer: The Colleagues
Album: Promo Single
Label: Hustle Hard/Atlantic
When you’ve built your public image (and much of your fortune) on the appearance of ‘wholesomeness,’ it’s got to sting when your numerous infidelities are revealed to the world and your meticulously-crafted facade falls to pieces faster than you can text, “Hey, would you mind taking my name off your phone?” Of course, the rap game is a hell of a lot more tolerant of pathological playerism than professional golf – on his latest promo single, Maino goes so far as to claim Tiger as a role model. Backed by The Colleagues’ catchy, synth-fortified stomp-clap rhythm, the Brooklynite issues a half-hearted apology for his philandering ways (“I need help, ‘cause I know I’ve got a got a problem… I can’t lie, I’m a dog, I’m a cheater.”), made to seem somewhat less sincere by the surrounding braggadocio (“I’ve got women in the burbs, women in the hood…”). While I somehow doubt this track will receive heavy rotation in Woods’ iPod, Tiger will undoubtedly find a home in the earphones and car stereos of listeners in the Booth and beyond. Fans should check back with us on January 6, when we unveil the Best of the Booth ‘09; Maino’s hit single All the Above is in the running for “Best Hip-Hop Record (Mainstream)” and “Best Club Anthem.”

First off, I wouldn't be bragging about being like Tiger. Not only was he cheating on his super hot wife, hw was cheating on her with girls that looked like Hooters waitresses. Really, a billionaire couldn't do better? Hopefully Maino's pulling some actual dimes.
Anyway, the music on this isn't anything great, but I enjoyed it. Beat knocks, memorably lyrics, definitely a conversation starter. I predict that in 2010 Tiger Woods will be the go to reference for rapper punchlines, and Maino's starting the trend off right. |

liking the upbeat beat, but im just not feeling much of this, but dont worry maino you had best song this year!!!!!!!
i hope All The Above wins both Hip Hop Record and Club anthem, i thought that was THE GREATEST HOOK EVER MADE (both extremely catchy and inspirational), and very good and inspirational lyrics from Maino, that song got lots of radio play, but i still thought it was underrated, just an amazing song, but i figure Empire State of mind or some garbage track by jay z will win, if see jay z win album of year, then i know hip hop is truly in a BAD STATE |

The hook is good but if this would of been released before the whole Tiger Woods "scandal" i would of called it a banger!! Tiger Wood's is a professional golfer so anything he does off the golf course i could care less since it aint none of my business!! But you know how the media drivin world is today!!
ahhh oh well....haha |

I like Tiger Woods more now than I did before. Gave mankind an excuse to say...
"Why ya mad, lady? Atleast I wasn't as bad as Tiger." I'm surprised it took someone this long to come up with this idea. Track was decent as Maino is just average with his lyrics. Rotation-Stuff. |

This is definitely a conversation starter, like Nathan said. The production was tight on this, but the main focus is the lyrics and message. I really don't know what to make of this. I don't really agree with some of what he says and Tiger's definitely not a role model anymore.. Haha I'm gonna have to give this a few more listens before I rate it.

It's kinda funny but I don't feel it was executed well enough to not be in bad taste.

has a nice beat if u asked me and was hilarious! lyrics get 4 and beat gets an easy 5. Only thing that would make this better would 2 throw Weezy (Lil' Wayne) in it.

I think its a real song.. i dig songs peopel can relate to. If you never been this type of dude the song would seem lame. Just like Hustler Songs, Balla Songs, even love songs... but the fact that he's not following the PC guidelines. its a simple catchy song.. and the beat is hot!
