Even with the rise and fall of the many boy bands and girl groups of the past, Mahagani, a trio of 20-somethings named to symbolize the various shades of brown, is giving the group-thing a try. The remix to their debut single, DJ (Stand Over Here), featuring The Game, shows off the vocal talents of the Atlanta-based group and the Tim & Bob-produced beat has a smooth, mid-tempo, Bobby Valentino-esque feel (which makes sense, since the production duo is responsible for many a Valentino song). Their debut album, Alli, Randi & V (the names of the three members), is set to be released in the fall, and with a strong debut like DJ, Mahagani has the potential to bring back the R&B girl-group craze.
I actually think they're a great sounding group, maybe a little rough around the edges. But as a whole, they sound better than other new girl groups. Yes the beat is a bit generic and nothing fancy as we've come to expect nowadays (damn you timbaland and your upping of standards). It is still a smooth beat that works well with their voices, they kinda remind me of JS as well. On a side note, I just noticed that their name was Mahagani; ie. Mahogany?? They're name is a play on a type of wood...
If you take "Rappers Delight" and "Doin It" and mix 'em together, you get "DJ." I like that they added The Game for a remix... but I would have prefered to hear him spit a few more bars, and, off the top instead of the backend.
makes me wanna listen to some Bobby V. this group's aight, nothin distinct about their vocals... i honestly wouldn't be able to recognize another song by them
No cant stand teh beat, sounds like they kind of ran there voices over the beat wayy to much to me,
and Bambo.. lmao where did you get that the Game is the best rapper out right now? hahahahaha, i think you got overly excited about this track.. HAHA you know the man Weezy would tear him up!! No doubt about it..
that just astounds me that someone would say that lmao.
This songs aight but I would much rather listen to Doin' It and Rappers Delight than this. It's a good thing Game spits on here bc i wouldn't have listened to it for more than a minute.
