Flying Lotus

Sixteen months after the release of smash-hit debut set Blue Slide Park, Mac Miller has liberated the lead single off studio album number two. S.D.S. (Somebody Do Something) reveals that the introspective, occasionally off-the-wall material Miller’s been releasing over the past few months wasn’t simply his way of blowing off steam between major projects. Over Flying Lotus’ hazy boardwork, the emcee showcases a finely-honed fusion of his recent head-in-the-clouds trippiness (“I ain’t nobody, and neither are you / I’m contemplatin’ if I even believe in the truth.”) and the confident, pop-referential bars on which he built his brand. Watching Movies With the Sound Off is currently unscheduled, but fans will be able to cop this record via iTunes come midnight tonight. Watch for the record’s official visuals to hit the ‘net this Wednesday.
