Mac Miller - Pittsburgh Kidz Get the Biz
Artist: Mac Miller
Producer: Spunk Bigga
Album: K.I.D.S.
Label: Rostrum Records
The 197th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Mac Miller, the Steel City native who earned reader acclaim for mixtape cut Don’t Mind if I Do. On his brand new, exclusive Pittsburgh Kids Get the Biz freestyle, the Rostrum Records emcee flows over a Spunk Bigga-produced beat originally featured on McGruff’s Harlem Kidz Get Biz. Fresh off the release of his tremendously successful K.I.D.S. mixtape, Mac Miller is currently shooting videos, working on collaborations and preparing an “Incredibly Dope Tour” for his fans. In the meantime, readers will be able to catch the artist on the Smoker’s Club Tour with Currensy, Smoke DZA, and Big K.R.I.T. during October and November.
Readers can download a copy of In the Booth (Volume 4), featuring exclusive freestyles 91 through 120, here! Volumes one, two and three are available for download here, here and here. Keep it locked for the latest on Volume 5, coming soon!

Mac has been sending music our way for quite a while, but it wasn't until recently that he really caught our ear. After his initial feature caught fire in the Booth, we had to invite him to participate in the series. Good call by us.
Mac's flow meshes perfectly with his beat selection and he is the first emcee, out of 197 in the series, to spell out DJBooth.net in his rhymes. Crazy. Def has the feel of a true freestyle. |

I can't say Im a Mac Miller fan, and this solidifies it. The kid has got some rhymes over the drowsy production of Spunk Bigga, but he sounds like alot of rappers currently out there. Freestyles are always impressive on the booth and this wasn't bad. I'm gonna pass on this one.

Anyone who doesn't think this is tight doesn't know hiphop. Fact.

I not so boldly predict that Mac will become the next rapper to divide hip-hop into lovers/haters camp, much the same way Nicki's divided hip-hop now. As for me, I still haven't made up my mind either way, and this freestyle's keeping me on the fence.

The boy Mac been delivering that fire since his first solo mixtape, The Jukebox. Glad to see he's on a successful path now. His freestyle was dope too. A reflection of his lifestyle.

I really like it because it has that hip hop feel to it. The beat was hot so was the lyrics, but the bars got a Lil' dry @ the end. Maybe Mac Miller should look into making his freestyles shorter.

Thanks for featuring this, because the people I hang out with in Pittsburgh all said he was not worth listening to, and some actually have went to school with him. Not really feeling this dude, but this beat makes it a 3-star rating. Also, the song title is so god damn corny.

Don't underestimate this kid--quite possible he could be the next thing, especially since he could exploit an untapped market. Lyrically he's no pushover either, and if you search mac miller on youtube (The Booth, unfortunately, doesn't have nearly his full collection) you'll see why. The song "Nike's on my feet" is case in point

Interesting song... Being from Pittsburgh, my first instinct is to give this a five. On the contrary, it really just isn't worth that. This song is a three. I remember when Wiz Khalifa was shouting 'Rostrum Records, ID Labs, 412!!' Mac Miller is not nearly as talented.
