If it’s a bright, sunshiney day and you’re feeling on top of the world, you may want to put off listening to M-Dot‘s latest feature – there’s a distinct possibility it may bum you out. If, on the other hand, you woke up to dishwater-gray skies and rainshowers, then now might be the perfect time for a little Self-Reflection. Backed by the forlorn strings of Pauly Fingaz, the Boston mainstay takes a brutally honest look in the mirror. Did I say “brutally honest?” On second thought, it’s just plain brutal; he begins by telling himself “What’s the point? Pack up and pick up / It’s over – quit now, give up” and proceeds to catalog his self-doubts and insecurities, from his lack of a “real job” to the possibility that his so-called friends don’t actually care about him. Fortunately, his (surprisingly deep-voiced) conscience jumps in on the back, warning him to “block out… that nonsense” and keep grinding. Downbeat but ultimately cathartic, this introspective banger should ring familiar to anyone who’s dealt with the blues. Those digging it can hear more on M-Dot’s Booth-sponsored Making Doubters Over Think mixtape, set to drop Dec. 7.

M-Dot had a message in this. And he makes you feel and understand it in this record. This is great from M-Dot. His verses are hard and thoughtful. His flow is smooth and makes this a enjoyable, emotional listen. The production from Pauly Fingaz is very great. This record is FIRE. A banger for sure.

As soon as the sample kicked in I was ready for some real Hip-Hop and M-Dot didn't disappoint. The description of the track made me really listen and I've heard a lot of M-Dot material and he's a dope artist and I gotta say he didn't disappoint on this. It takes a lot to hold my attention without a chorus for 3 minutes but he did it and it's not easy to self-analyze and he didn't hold back at all. Good shit!!

As Richard pointed out, not the best selection if you are already in a downer mood because of life or the weather in your home city. However, if none of that matters and its always about the hip hop, regardless of life around you, then this M-Dot record is dope with no buts.

You already know what I'm going to say. Boston's (finally) producing an overflow of talent, and tracks like this show that M-Dot's at the forefront of that movement.
